But seriously now. Were the editors of Tin House all high and sitting around wondering who could come up with the worst idea? Here is a good idea - why not publish a great book for a change and actually get behind your writers, support them on tours and sponsor workshops in the inner cities. Get your authors to work with kids and people who might not otherwise be able to buy a book. This idea is shameful. There I said it. Shameful.

Re: Politkovskaya retrial

Hey Keith? -? Good to hear from you.? I'm a novice at this Disqus so direct email works great for me if its cool with you.? Dan says hey and Parker as well; Parker being over there in Russia with you at the moment, wandering the back alleys looking for trouble no doubt.? I am writing for a few reasons, all associated with the great work and writing you are doing in Russia.? Very much impressed and envious.? We at Dzanc have recently started a literary journal called The Collagist - www.thecollagist.com - and we will be featuring essays as well as lit fiction.?? We have already locked down some amazing authors, including works from Gordon Lish, Ander Monson, Michael Martone, Charles Bachelder and Matthew Derby, not to mention some amazing new writers.? In addition, we'll have a novel Excerpt from Laird Hunt's new book,? a review - cast in video format as well - by Anna Leigh Clark of Jonathan Baumbach's latest novel, as well as Ryan Call's review of Brian Evenson's Fugue State.?? On top of this, David McLendon is writing an essay on Gordon Lish for us that is to be like nothing else written on the man.? We have additional poetry from? Oscar de la Paz, Christina Kallery, Charles Jensen and others, all managed by our poetry editor Matthew Olzmann with The Collagist? managing editor Matt Bell.

It is my intent to also include in each issue a political essay.? I am in contact with folks to write about current issues in China and Iran.? We would love to include a piece by you on Russia.? I have been following closely the dealings in Russia for some time.? Its insane, man, as you know.? Bunch of gangs and warlords running the show, journalists and human rights activists murdered on the street.? We would be interested in any sort of essay you wish to provide, push the envelope all you want and we will back you.? (Be safe though, my man, I know of your arrest earlier.)? We also recognize your standing as a writer and dont expect you to offer us a piece gratis.? We are open to discussing a price.
Finally then, in our capacity as a publisher, Dzanc would also be very much interested in looking at any full manuscript you might have on your Russian writings.? This, too, is open to discussion on the subject you would like to cover but we would certainly like to talk with you about this as well.
Keep up the great work my man.? Enjoying much your blog and N+1 as always.? Be safe.? Look forward.?
