Dear John,

Well that greeting sounds like I am going to end a relationship. So lets try:

To the Editor,

This column is announcing a change in policy to the papers online commenter s. One that forces posters, who comment on local and sometimes national news, to divulge their real names on a global basis. Not to mention a local basis, which is steeped in unfriendly actions towards those who may oppose a political or managing viewpoint. Some people just want to express themselves without climbing into the political arena. You present some good arguments for your decision, but the outcome is lacking in what is really necessary to properly address your concerns.

To be more to the point, it is the paper that should know the identity of those who use their forum, not every Tom, Dick, and Harry in the world. For those who use their names freely, are in a position to accept that venue of revealing their identity in this type of a global forum (would add that some in the past have stopped posting all together as a result their callousness with regards to identity). So it is the paper that should know who is using the forum, not the world. Hence a simple solution that is being used successfully throughout the industry, is registering an anonymous name with the paper, then in the public aspect their identity is protected. Of course Mr. Editor, the past and future of news informants and the information provided has been rife with the protection of a persons identity, not the exposure of such.

Lastly, I would like to expound on the principle of online advertising and the revenue generated. The amount charged is set by the number of hits a site generates, fewer hits = less revenue. We both know these comment areas generate a lot of hits post the actual reading of the paper articles. So if I am to use my name in this format as other compensated contributors do (excluding the one who post their identities for free, that is their problem, not mine) we can negotiate a compensation schedule.

You are so wrong. The oil and gas
industries were almost 100% government subsidized from late 1800's to
mid 1900's. As were the automotive, steel, transportation, aviation,
shipping, rubber, etc., etc., etc.. Should add natural gas,
electric, phone on top of etc., etc.. The current conservative
derangement is a result of a manifestation of a belief in magic in
relation to advancing technology(another gov subsidized program) and
development ideas for the future. There is nothing magical about new
directions and advancement in an area of industry. The idea is
proposed, treasury investors are presented with the idea, and someone
agrees to move forth with investing with money invested in the
government. After their position as an industry is stabilized, they
secure legislation to keep a fluid market, then seek private
investment, for the procurement of public IPO's if they desire.
After that they are pretty much on their own until something like the
recent bailout occurs, which is what is NOT a conservative approach
to private enterprise.

The only difference from today as
compared to the past is the use of technology and the speed with
which knowledge of legislation can be distributed to to general
public. This has created a clog in the process which appears to be
paralyzing our ability to advance and be competitive in the global
market.

I don't think I agree with the writers
position towards the moderator. He would have the right to ask and
direct the debate in the direction he wishes, given of course it
abides by the rules all participants agreed to. But one would have
to ask: Was the debate between candidates about marriage or politics?
After all a debate is supposed to be about learning more about the
individuals stand in political matters. I have some trouble seeing a
relationship between Gibgrich's politics and budget issues and how he
defines his relationship with an ex.

I put this under the 'time and place'
file.

What???? Maybe you should first show
how what you say is related to both parts of each statement.

1- The relationship of a murder
conviction under a system of jurisprudence where evidence handling
is brought into question and subsequent punishment is death to
forcing a woman to go full term with an unplanned birth(this would
include conception via incest and rape or both).

2- What is different in this presidents
spending approach to end a recession compared to a previous
republican's approach to the same?

3- A full scale US military invasion in
Iraq to European members of NATO going into Libya.

The logic of your position baffles me.

Here is the flaw in Baddour's proposal.

First, the supporting argument: People
who seek some forms of employment are subjected to drug tests.

This is true, as an employer, I have no
desire to have a lame dope head on my payroll. For the company to
make money and profit, the employee's must be proficient in carrying
out their job. Hence, my employee's state of mind is a high
priority, but this issue is not limited to drug use. Mental
inability can be of an organic nature and even appear the same as
drug abuse. Same goes to the use of alcohol. A hungover drunk is no
better.

So do I label everyone with short
comings as drug addicts, and subject all to drug testing.

As a private business, this is my right
and responsibility. After all I am looking for the best applicant,
not the worst, or the just make it by personality, but the cream of
the crop.

So the argument against is based in the
logical fallacy of the current proposal, which is a requirement to
prove sobriety before receiving any benefits. One seeking the last
form of assistance available must produce $40 before receiving any
benefits.

To the one seeking help, $40 is a lot
of money, which most likely they do not have. Easy cure to the
proponents, because that is -1 on the books. Looks good until one
thinks about the legal complications that will evolve from this. Any
one letter from an attorney will make that -1 become more expensive
than the benefits the could collect in any reasonable time frame of
benefit period.

The proposal should allow for emergency
benefits, then subject to testing, payment deducted from any payable
benefit if they test positive. Also remember, drug tests are flawed,
and do produce false results. The statistical ratio of this will
increase dramatically with more people being tested. The presumption
of innocence and sobriety must be considered first, with the persons
individual rights.

I still do not see a gain, but rather a
loss in this legislation, no matter how it is instituted.

A tremendous amount of energy goes
unused in the ocean and waterways. Thanks to the gravitational force
of the moon, the ocean is a very predictable cycle constant movement.

My early years in school I did a
demonstration of this on the river with a sealed semi-submerged
alternator from a car. It was sealed, with a modified propeller to
catch the energy, and a rudder to change directions with the tide.
Got the idea watching the boats in the harbor anchored to a tight
rope and change direction with the tide. With a modified plug on
shore attached to a power inverter and presto.......... constant
supply of energy, thanks to the moon(and the water, of course). It
was scorned as we approached it on a field trip, but it could run
everything from a lights to a hot plate(No small TV's back in those
days, just old radio's.).

Good luck guys, many do not like the
idea of reusable energy that is not dug or pumped up from the ground.

I like Ron Paul, so no debate there.

So isn't it racism that makes a person
present a racist argument when one doesn't exist. I am furthest
from the politically correct position on much, in statement. Which
then can cause someone to construe my remark as racist, but I do not
defend or go on the defensive.

Why then Barb, are you in the defensive
position of racism(for yourself or your party of choice) when there
is no accusation of it?

Premeditated defense for a future
position perhaps, that is racist(calculated and otherwise).

RE: comments on trusts- Your jealousy
and ignorance are showing on behalf of those who do not plan ahead.
Taxes are based on consumable income, not capital building. Get a
clue and do some homework. When the proceeds from the trust are
used(hence converted into consumable income), they are taxed, years
back quite high. I started this kind of planning as a child, and put
away most earnings as possible, and still bought the necessary candy
and toys needed.

Just my opinion, this discus format works like crappola.

I like the way you and your son play off each other. I have been very conservative in views my whole life, but never an extremist party follower.

Why, you ask?

In the business world, it is hard to fire with good cause, until the individual completes the duty assigned and the result is a failure. Be it incompetence, or any other mechanism that contributes to the failure, I want it carried out. In politics, the politicians like it when they can get credit for stopping completion of a goal, then label it a failure. It makes it possible for them to get paid for being on the job and never accomplishing anything. The younger generation has caught on to this, but the old party liners still want business a usual.

There are many more from both sides. Had the accusers waited for Cain to be in the election instead of the primary, you might have a point.

Tell us why we(the occupiers) are out here, because we have no idea.

I do not oppose the movement, but when a group is so lazy, that they cannot streamline their message, I will not help(though there is a legitimate message in there, somewhere).

When I first heard Dr. Ablow’s thoughts on Chaz Bono’s performance, I thought it was meant to be humorous. Then I got to thinking about things on a microscopic level, and of course the advances in technology and germ warfare.Could my TV serve as a deployment to for TV germs? I mean a TV contamination coming from a TV.It all made sense. So on the night of Chaz’s performance, I went into action.First, a full spectrum electron microscope with a special panoramic lens to view the entire screen.Then, carefully wrapping the entire microscope and TV in protective plastic with a germ killing UV light installed, and me wearing PC’s with a full respirator, I was ready to watch(I did indeed have the prerequisite barf bag for any physical side effects of watching Chaz dance).Sure enough, when the moment came little TV microbes were being emitted from the television screen. They literally looked like microscopic transgender people, with no clothes. I was offended to say the least. Well, after barfing a couple times, my curiosity satisfied, I flipped the switch on the UV lamp and zapped those buggers.The lesson here is don’t watch shows like that without protection. You never know what you can catch.
