Last night at Rumsey Playfield they directly linked the cancellation of the remaining tour dates in support of raising the new kin. Keating excitedly exclaimed "It's going to be four men and a baby!" to the crowd.

Although I'm pleased with these new print offerings, I ordered the "People" printed kicks. They're super comfy, and I'm pleased to know that my purchase yielded a $9.75 donation.

Oh be forewarned, the rubber sole or the actual fabric has a funky smell. I believe it shall dissipate over time.

Oh, just as an aside... um, Suno has some of the ghetto-ist shipping I've ever seen. Whatever company they've used to outsource/ship their products was super sketch.

I called a friend from the L train at 14th & 8th yesterday. But the service doesn't extend into the subway tunnels so there's really not that much to fear in overhearing people's annoying cell phone conversations.

Even though urbanites, especially NYers have a tendency to be more detached than their non-urban counterparts in the wake of natural disasters altruism and community arises. A natural disaster can act as a social leveler where everyone is suddenly equal regardless of one's socioeconomical status, so I agree with Charles' comments. This thesis is found in Rebecca Solnit's "A Paradise Built in Hell: The Extraordinary Communities That Arise in Disaster" specifically where Solnit discusses the 1906 SF earthquake. Strangers came together at the Mitzpah Cafe.

I agree with the statement that our "shared experience of trauma or challenge boosts our sense of interpersonal trust and connection." I would say the best example of this was the sense of camaraderie found in NYers during the 2003 blackout. As an event that occurred after the 9/11, a power outage left the city unphased after it survived the terrorist attacks.

But undoubtedly as cities continue to function in a post 9/11 era, hopefully it won't take another such disaster natural or otherwise for urbanites to loosen up.

If I'm not mistaken, don't the phone companies take out a cut of the donation for processing fees? Also, I heard that the donation isn't processed to the charity until the donor pays their telephone bill?
