For configs I usually use a static js file with a config object, that is not minimized and that is included as remote. Advantage is that the sys admin can easily modify it.

Re: Back Button Behavior on a Page With an iframe

I'm surprised that this works. Wonder if that's a bug or a feature since the user is in fact navigating. Don't find a description of this behaviour in any official docs. I thought only way would be Ajax + replaceState. Good find. :)

Re: Cross-domain Ajax requests - Sencha Touch Bits

Thanks Daantje!

Re: Most popular JavaScript keywords

Sencha Touch 2 project. Look for example at the top of the button. The shadow makes it look like the button is inside the toolbar. So if you could touch the toolbar and slide with your finger over the button, you would feel a lowered surface, whereas the default is just at the same level, so you wouldn't feel much of a difference.
Does that makes sense? (Not that easy to explain it actually.)

Re: A prettier search field - Sencha Touch Bits

Hey, thanks for your feedback!

Yeah, I saw that missing pictures problem in google reader as well.
Will try to use absolute urls for the next posts, strange that google reader isn't figuring that out on it's own.

Re: Referencing parent selectors in Sass

Danke schön. :)

Re: Referencing parent selectors in Sass

Thanks for the first comment on this new blog! :)

Fixed the ampersand misspelling, thanks again!

Re: RESTful store example with Rails

Finally (really sorry that it took me so long) I updated this example to make use of the back then non-existent Writer's encode option.
This way you don't need to decode your params anymore.

Re: On Passwords

After all an interesting blog post, though! :)
Thanks.

Re: DailyJS: ExceptionHub

Interesting, thought about that yesterday.
Had the idea to make an Ajax request to the server which triggers the hoptoad or exceptional notifier.
Anyway, gonna check that out for my js heavy http://spreadnotes.me application. If you go by the number of jobs for a specific library, you might want to check out this website: http://www.indeed.com/jobtr... (I did a comparison of Ext JS with ActionScript as an example, Ext JS looks way better than ActionScript there. ;))

2. Where did you see that Adobe has partnered with Ext JS? They use Adobe AIR for their recently released Ext Designer, but as far as I know they didn't partner with them business-wise.

3. Here's my tip for you: Learn a JavaScript library instead of Flash or Silverlight. JavaScript won't go away soon, the opposite is actually happening since it's also becomes popular in other areas than just web development, see Node.JS.
By learning a JavaScript library you learn to know the language JavaScript as well, which allows you to more or less easily switch between libraries later on, depending on what you need.
I think the same as you about jQuery, I don't like the chained style either. Try Ext JS for RIA development, or Ext Core or Prototype JS for just some helper JavaScript methods.

4. Regarding Closure and GWT, I also would like to know what their position within Google is. I don't know either.

Hope that helped a bit.

Regards,
Steffen

Re: On Passwords

I hate passwords. :-P

Re: Theming an Ext.Window in 10 minutes

You're right Susanne, I didn't touch the width/height nor did I actually test it in IE since the app doesn't support IE from the start. If so, this would make SASS a lot more interesting for me again.

Thanks!

Re: Theming an Ext.Window in 10 minutes

Thanks Jonathan. Unfortunately there aren't many custom themed apps out there. On the other hand, that's one advantage of Ext JS, that you can build apps without a designer/investing a lot in design.
But yeah, it's not that hard to customize it.
