Steemit for Sale: Popular Crypto Blogging Platform Sold to Tron, Community Reacts

I've been on Steem since 2016. I have to hope Justin does not trash it. As well as paying users it offers a lot of freedom and anonymity if you want it. Ned seemed to give up on it, but then he did not impress many people. I just hoped he was invested in the actual ideals it represented. Maybe he wanted the money more. Justin does not control the whole Steem platform. There is talk of forking it to prevent that. Some of the witnesses seem positive on things, so I am sticking with it for now.

Re: Making Money as a Writer: 5 Tried and Tested Ways of Earning

I can vouch for Steemit and the wider Steem platform that now includes audio, video and games. There are a wide range of interests represented there. It's not so much about 'clickbait' as there are (generally) no ads. It is supposed to be about what people appreciate, but some will try to game the system. I have accounts to give away if anyone needs one.

Re: Steemit lays off close to 70% of it’s workforce to reduce operation costs

Times are tough if a company relies on the crypto prices. It's not like Steem is the only one to fall. I think it's worth mentioning that 300 Steem users and developers met up in Krakow last month. There are lots of exciting apps being developed that include games, blogging tools and even one that encourages people to pick up litter. I was there and the price was not really being talked about.

Re: Steemit – get paid for your content, sort of

I joined Steemit 2 years ago and I've managed to earn good money just by posting. It's a bit of a wild west as there's no overall moderation, but many people want that freedom. I have spent some of my Steem. I have a debit card that can be funded by Bitcoin or Litecoin and it's simple to exchange to those from Steem.
It's still a fairly small active community, but I think it may take off in the next year. If you have questions I can try to help.

Re: Steemit’s CEO Appears to be Cashing Out 50% of his Steem Holdings

That's what I suspected. There's a live streaming platform called dlive built on it as well as Youtube and Soundcloud alternatives. I've never made a cent from Youtube, but you don't need thousands of followers to make something on Steemit. I hope to see the gaming community grow there.

Re: The best Facebook alternatives

I've been on Steemit for nearly 2 years and I appreciate it has some issues, but a lot of people are doing well there. It's true that originally it took 2 years to 'power down' all your Steem Power, but now it's 3 months and you can take some of it each week over that period. This encourages people to not just buy and sell it all the time if they want to retain some voting power to support others. Lots of apps are being built around it, not just dtube.

Re: Yours Developer Ryan X Charles Discusses BCH Powered Social Media

I wonder if paywalls will work. It's open source and decentralised. If you were linking your articles from there I could vote them up and you get some income. It's worth a look anyway. Good luck with the magazine

Re: Yours Developer Ryan X Charles Discusses BCH Powered Social Media

Ever coming back to Steemit Jamie? I've not looked into Yours as yet. There are a lot of interesting social sites out there. Does using BCH mean it costs to post? I just read about Memo that also uses it. I don't see a disadvantage to using other tokens if they have a value. At least Steem is fast and free to use. I've invested time in Steemit and it's paid off. The community is great.

Re: 4 best decentralized social networks to use in 2018

5. More like half a million. They should have changes soon that will make it easier for far more people to join up. Currently it take a while for new accounts to be authorised. There's a thriving ecosystem around the Steem blockchain with new apps being developed. There are alternatives for Twitter, Youtube, Soundcloud and Instagram already. Transactions are very quick and there are no fees.

Re: Bitcoin Blasts Through $7,000… Are We Glitching The Matrix?

Great to hear you talk at Steemfest. I've been on there over a year and it's been fun. It's definitely not a scam, but you need to be a good community member to make money. I've made enough to buy a nice guitar and a trip to their convention in Portugal. You can sell Steem for Bitcoin on various exchanges. There are people trying to scam the system, but the community deals with it. Just yesterday there was a phishing attack, but that account has been flagged to nothing already.

Re: HASSbian 1.21 - It's about time isn't it

Just trying this after having issues upgrading HA on a previous Hassbian install. It takes work to make any real amount and probably is hard to justify the time you put in. I see the money as a bonus. I'm mainly there for the good interaction I get with cool people. I've been able to use the money I've made to make a lot of charity donations and to buy a painting from an artist, all through direct transfers on Tsu. I still haven't made enough to actually get cash out (need $100 for that).

I was pretty upset when Facebook decided to delete all my posts that had come via Tsu. That included all my holiday pictures. Of course some people will spam via the API, but they will do that from Twitter and Youtube too. Why is Tsu being singled out like this? Tsu is a legitimate site with a different business model. Maybe Facebok really see it as a threat and want to stop their users from realising there is an alternative.

Re: The Social Network That Rewards Content Creators: An Inside Look at Tsu’s Growth

I've been on Tsu almost since the start.
