She suffers today as a result of her willingness to help at that time. Congress should be ashamed. Sadly it seems they've got their heads stuffed to firmly up their own butts to know better. Our votes (and those of our families) will count in the next election. There's still time to save this but people must speak out to their congressmen and senators!

Re: Why that fabulous $1 microstock photo you just bought isn’t such a great deal after all…

Jay, YOU should see the money the photographers reps make! ;-)

Re: Rotate Your On-Screen View

Very simple Doug. When you are done working on the image in the rotated view, you just hold down the "R" key again, click and drag in an arc and your view will once again rotate for you. Just pull the image view around on screen till it is back to it's normal upright orientation.

Also when doing this, it can help to hold down the Shift key (in addition to the "R") and your on-screen view will snap to 15º increments around the circular rotation. This helps to assure you are back to the proper upright view again.

Thanks for your comment Doug!

Re: Rumor: Palm Pre 2 Launch Scheduled for November 11th

Sprint customers got first shot at the original Palm Prē, watched as Verizon then got the upgraded and cheaper (purchase price) Prē Plus and now sit on the sidelines again as VZ rolls out the new Prē 2!

Hey Sprint, if you are not working REALLY HARD with HP/Palm to get this into your lineup FAST, you are going to soon lose a lot of customers...

Not sure about other Sprint users, but the hardware my original Prē is built on is falling apart and a new phone (or carrier) is in the works soon...

Re: 5 Lightweight CMS Alternatives for Small Businesses

I've used CushyCMS and love the simplicity. With a Pro plan at Surreal I can brand the CMS for my company and it serves the needs of simple sites/clients exceptionally well!

Re: FOX 40 WICZ TV - Binghamton Scam Alert [5/13/2010] - News, Sports, Weather, Contests and More - Binghamton, NY

This scam has actually been around for quite some time. A common variation is to receive this message via email from a trusted and known person. I've seen pleas due to troubles from medical bills, caught in Europe due to ash cloud and need money to get out via other transport, victim of theft while on vacation etc.

Re: Facebook Page Content Disappears

My Facebook page started doing this late last night, roughly 24 hours ago. It is still missing content today. Currently shows only one old item under "Recent Activity". Sidebar content seems to be unaffected. In my case at least this seems to have affected only the Wall content. Everything else seems to be in tact. I'd have to say I am not so sure that the product you mention would really be that practical for the purpose you suggest. I'm not sure how it would even attach to the typical camera to begin with. Add the fact that the product weighs as much or more than most portable camera equipment, it becomes a very cumbersome and awkward solution at best. Interesting idea, but I don't think it would be very realistic in use.

Re: Palm Pre: Watch Out for Falling Prices

I've had the Pre for a few months now. I love the ability to run multiple apps side-by-side. I feel that the user interface is more efficient than that of the iPhone (long time iPod Touch user). It allows you to do more with less precise "touches" on the device. Most of what I want to do on the Pre can be done with a simple swipe or two of the screen. No searching for a specific point on the screen to tap or touch. Very efficient.

It took me a while to appreciate the benefit of the Synergy feature which is so deeply ingrained in the OS. It is wonderful when you learn to let the device do so much for you. The iPhone OS is catching up on that, but WebOS led the way here.

I did a careful side-by-side comparison of service plans between the Pre and iPhone. For the features I wanted the Pre saved me exactly $600 annually. I can buy 6 iPhones for that savings (then pay the heavier freight for them... NO). You've got to acknowledge that the true cost of any of these phones lies in the required service plan, NOT the phone itself!

Sprint is a good carrier in my area so that was in no way a drawback.

Integrating Google mail, calendar & contacts was seamless, truly seamless. It all syncs back to iCal and even over to my iPod Touch without a hitch too. It's all easy and seamless. What it should be.

Don't forget the built in turn-by-turn GPS navigation either! No 3rd party apps to get/try/test/install... or pay for.

For me, the $$ savings, multiple apps running, efficient UI, included GPS nav & Google integration all made the decision a slam dunk. Plus, with the iPod Touch in hand, I've got an iPhone without the bills anyway. Best of both worlds...

Re: Sprint Navigator

"He told me that the maps are not stored on the phone but that if I chose my destination in advance that I would have the guidance for the entire trip."

My experience with the Pre Sprint Navigator would support what this Sprint tech told you. I have done exactly as he said, input my destination while starting in a location with full access to Sprint coverage/data service, started the trip which took me several hours through regions with no Sprint signal, successfully reaching my destination with the Sprint Navigator doing its job.

However, reversing the scenario was a less pleasing eye-opener. Starting in an area where GPS might be found but no Sprint network meant that the Sprint Navigator was useless. Without the Sprint network for data service, I was NOT able to chart a new course. The Sprint Navigator application just gave an error message to the effect of "Your current location cannot be found".

That was frustrating.

My take? As long as you can start from a Sprint coverage area you should be fine. However, if at any point during your trip, your Sprint Navigator application is shut off or interrupted for some reason AND you are outside the Sprint coverage area at that same time, your Sprint Navigator will not be able to resume the trip for you. IF your Sprint Navigator application is shut off or interrupted and your are IN Sprint coverage area at the time, your trip may continue ok.

If you are navigating in Sprint coverage areas (as it sounds this reviewer was) and do not anticipate leaving Sprint coverage, I'd say this application is great. If you will be traveling in and out of Sprint coverage areas, your satisfaction with the app may vary.

Re: Boy, oh Boy.

That is the best kind of distraction from work you could possibly ask for. I still remember the moment that it really hit me that our first was for real. An ultrasound early on where the technician showed us his beating heart. It took my breath away and brought tears to my eyes at the same time. Actually still does come to think of it.

We didn't learn the gender of either of our boys until we met them on their birthdays. But whether they were to be boy or girl, seeing that heart beating really brought the reality of the situation home in a big way. Best to you and Amy!
