Emanuele, top post sir. I think you are right on the money with many of your points here.

We're starting to see the real challenges ahead of us, the low-hanging fruit has been harvested, now comes the real work of rewiring organisations to enable them to thrive in the social, connected economy.

I've been musing over this a fair bit of late, somehow I must try and get some of that thinking down on paper!

Good luck with whatever you have ahead of you, looking forward to hearing all about it.

Thanks Amber, for a great post.

I have re-read this a number of times over the last couple of weeks, and shared with friends with whom I've had conversations along very similar lines. Not quite coaching, but more encouraging them how to begin putting themselves out there, finding their feet in the connected world, what to be ready for....

It's in no small way reassuring to hear you saying this, encapsulating many of these important details, so much better than I!

I'll just have to point them here from now on! ;-)

Just seen this in the ScribeFire release notes for 3.5.1:

"Made Zemanta tracking pixel only enabled via opt-in"

Only took them a year, but better late than never. Thanks ScribeFire, good move.

I didn't see it mentioned anywhere in the ScribeFire release notes where the new Zemanta features were explained: http://blog.scribefire.com/...

The off switch is fine if its "off" by default, and you clearly tell people its there!

I'm rather surprised you are saying you haven't thought out ahead of time what you aim to be capturing with these stats. It comes across as pretty unethical if you're capturing data from site readers, without even the owner's knowledge, and no clear reason for wanting the data. At least provide clear disclosure, T&C's, or method to opt-out, no?

Lars, I appreciate the comments, and glad you like the colour-scheme!

I hear you re the sidebar, and was actually toying with the idea of a different, reduced, sidebar for posts, leaving the full 2 columns for the homepage. Another option could be making more use of the page width, though thats great for those of us with widescreens!
