Wow. To say that realtorsgroup had the “lowest productivity of any job in America” is pretty strong. The author actually states that the real estate brokerage profession “should be ashamed of its dismal performance” and this was at the height of the bubble. 1.1 million agents in America come out averaging 6 home sales per year. They work about 40 hours per sales which amounts to 12% of the work year or five hours per week. And you wonder why I had such a frustration at the skewering of the auto industry from Wall Street and lenders. Hypocrites. At least these people put in their 40 hours.

There is enough blame to go around but the magnitude of blame for certain groups is certainly not equal. I hold some of these “so-called” professionals to a higher standard because they are professionals (supposedly). If you asked your cousin Johnny to operate on your foot and it gets massively infected with gangrene that is your fault. But if you go to a medical doctor and the same thing happens, there is a certain shared responsibility at this point. The same thing happened with real estate agents and lenders. You were better off doing your own thing than listening to these people but many people fell for the suit and tie theatre and actually believed that most of these people knew what they were talking about. They clearly didn’t. The National Association of Realtors used to have an “anti-bubble” page which miraculously is no longer up. Since the link is now inactive, thankfully another blogger over at Bubble Meter was smart enough to copy and paste some of the text back in November of 2005. Let us look at some of their sage advice shall we?

Do we copyright the word doctor, lawyer, engineer, chemist, or musician? You would have to be pretty insecure to copyright your job title. Do you really need any other reasons why the 6% commission is gone and rightfully so?

expect to spend days and weeks going forward
you wont stop me from posting and i hope you stop no one else

all your screeming and kicking proves two things
firstly your without a doubt mentally challenged
secondly you prove with your every post that the blogs are correct and the realtors were dead wrong

once house prices have corrected way down we will no longer here from guys like you as youll be the one with your hand out either to the government or most likely on the street corner

any mention of anything real estate on a job application will result in denial of employment not just with me but with many many people and institutions

here comes the fraud..

CALGARY - The Royal Bank of Canada has filed an $8.9-million lawsuit against one of its former employees and members of his family over allegations they orchestrated a complex mortgage fraud scheme that has left the financial institution facing millions in losses for properties with artificially inflated values.

At the heart of the lawsuit are allegations the defendants -- including Ilan Levy, who worked with the bank as a mortgage specialist between August 2004 and March 2009 --approached people to allegedly buy real estate at prices that had been intentionally inflated over market value in exchange for fees between $20,000 to $70,000, according to court documents obtained by the Herald.

The defendants then apparently received payments of part of the mortgage loan proceeds, for Levy or companies under his control, that translated into at least $2.46 million, the documents allege.

As a result, the bank claims it was "intentionally misled" into agreeing to loan more money than the properties were worth.
