For sure...it's totally your choice and I'm not calling you out for it. Just wanted to hear more of your thoughts on it. I follow a lot of your stuff and respect it all, so I was just curious.

Scenario: Let's say FourSquare did live up to this "certain level of humanity", do you think they should have said no to MTV flat out? Is it really their responsibility to determine what the greatest causes are and only form relationships with those and turn away the rest?

I'm guessing that it was MTV that approached FourSquare and not the other way around. And while MTV sends a mixed message to it's audience on sex and STD testing, the message of fighting STDs is a valid one and I don't think FourSquare should be thought any less humane for spreading (no pun intended) that message.

Anyways, my two cents. Keep up the good work with all the stuff you do.

Hey man, why the hostility? Not trying to be an instigator. I just don't understand why you're so against what they are doing and am curious to hear more of your opinion on it.

"Save the whales" is a cause campaign. Cause campaigns don't just have to relate to leading causes of death, though it seems that is the point you are trying to make with your first link.

If your anger is related to the hypocrisy of MTV in it's message of promoting safe sex through PR moves while at the same time glorifying it through it's programming, well...you're gonna have to start boycotting a lot more than just FourSquare. MTV has been doing that for years. Which of course opens a whole other can of worms about MTV...

I'm not really sure yet. It's one of many social network sites I have and never use. This one just happens to show the most promise. It's marketed towards musicians, photographers and creative types, so it may end up being worthwhile.

For now, it's nothing more than a poorly populated tumblr.

I'm running an Urbanathlon. It's a 12 mile race throughout the city, including obstacles. Like jumping over taxis, climbing walls, running the stairs of Soldier Field, etc. Should be crazy. I will most likely die.
