It still boils down to parental involvement....you can spend thousands of dollars on all the technology that he has been purchased for these kids and I mean thousands and if the kid doesn't want to learn it's not going to make any difference at all. He wants longer school days ...isn't that just great another form of babysitting and I suppose more "free" food. Lawrence will never be what it once was no matter how much time and $$$$$ the state at the taxpayers expense puts into the school system.

The "other" people on the road have families that I am sure want then around along time if you choose to drive without regard to others then please do "us" a favor and you stay off the roads!!

I think people need to realize that the mental health issue needs to be addressed. As the saying goes guns don't kill people, people with guns kill people. What society has done to take care of the individual with mental health issues is a shame...just to save a buck they have cut services drastically. We as a nation need to re-evaluate that issue.

I heard that he was a "disabled vet" and had asthma before the city job. I bet there is more to the story than what is said here, and his wife is on disability too ( what???)...something sounds fishy to me. Great example for the children. There will always be people who want all for nothing !!!

Hopefully this is done at sporting events too and when the spoiled, entitled, not my child, parents are confronted with such info maybe then maybe they will realize their child is not perfect and it isn't the other guy all the time. It's a bout time someone stood up to all the enabler parents!!!!!

I am sure that most get all paid for, and their books. I saw it first hand so I know it is true. Talk about discrimination "hiring staff who are bilingual and bicultural is a priority for us" . This is America where we speak English. The caller is right to get a job you need to speak the language. Now a days 2 yrs. of college doesn't guarantee a job, having a BS is hard to find a job in this economy and I speak English...fluently!!!

The sad story is these "needy" people visit every soup kitchen and agency that gives out food and then they go to CorUnum for a free dinner. I Know of a few people who end up with at least 5 complete dinners!!

Typical Andover spending other peoples money. Next they are going to want a special town meeting(more money) to approve more money for the Bancroft school project!!! If we are paying more taxes why do the streets look so messy? Haven't seen a sweeper down my street once this year, trees on roads need to be maintained so people can walk on side walks and the bad trees cut down, and some residents properties look like dumps. If taxes are being raised then people need to see what they are getting for their $$$$$$ !

Unfortunately there is fraud amongst the people who receive some of these services. I know first hand of "needy" who go just to get the "free" stuff and then for Christmas they are the ones who buy the xbox, laptops, ipads, flat screen tv"s. As for the food they visit most places that hand out the "free" dinners and end up with 3 or 4 each. The idea behind this is great but there has got to be a better way to distribute to the real people who need it.
