Good eye! I hadn't, until last month. I spent this winter methodically making my way through the entire David Lynch catalog, which is something I should have done when I was 24, but that's also a perfect winter project, so I managed to finally get it done. "Twin Peaks" has undoubtedly been the highlight. (Although I have a funny "Blue Velvet" joke I keep wanting to tell, but I think it might be too dumb for public consumption. Plus the punch line is a sound effect, which doesn't translate well in this medium.)

That is part of the joke. It's all about disguises. On the left is Big Ed Hurley dressed the oral surgeon from the Tri-Cities, and on the right is Norm MacDonald dressed as Burt Reynolds.

Yeah, you and Will are right. It's not totally fair to lump Schulz in there. I've never read the bio, but based on what I had read, his childhood and formative years in St. Paul and Minneapolis sounded fairly miserable (I may have been thinking of this: http://www.startribune.com/....

I know people leave a place for lots of reasons, and celebrating Schulz as a native son -- who, as you point out, drew on Minnesota throughout his career -- seems more appropriate on the whole. I am not saying artists should be disowned just because they split town. But I think, on the whole, there is a rush to lionize artists like Dylan and Fitzgerald as representatives of the cities' artistic psyche, when the connection is pretty tenuous, and when there are lots of other artists that have made it their real life's work to reflect the city they've chosen.

And yes, I guess I am a zealot. So I have that going for me!

I looked up a bunch of other unaffiliated Sturdevants to see if I could see what they were up to. But nope, they're a taciturn bunch. No public information at all.
