The bird experts I talked to hadn't heard of any studies done on the effects of radiation on nesting birds and eggs but research may be out there. They did say ospreys have good success raising broods in the towers.

Tad Sooter

Re: Unsettling times on Washington Boulevard

I did get comment from county Public Works on this issue today and will have an update posted shortly.

Tad Sooter

Re: Neighbors help neighbors build Kingston community from scratch - Kingston Community News

The Ben-Judahs’ household status was verified by the Kitsap County Consolidated Housing Authority. To clarify, SoundRunner Manager Karen Arnold Victoria Express cannot run at the moment because the current crew needs more practice landings to attain Coast Guard certification. Arnold also said there are difficulties with docking the Express at the Colman Dock slip that must be sorted out. The upshot is, it's unclear how soon the Express will be operable on the route.

Tad Sooter

Re: Levy failure puts brakes on new Kingston library - North Kitsap Herald

Bob, Thank you for the catch. The loss in current tax revenue would actually be minimal because the property is classified as forest land. For example, one 540-acre parcel Pope owns near Port Gamble has an assessed tax value of just $88,650. The county could lose out on future tax revenue by making the property public and preventing development. I hope this helps and thank you for the comment.

Re: Proposed Fay Bainbridge, Fort Ward transfer up for discussion Tuesday - Bainbridge Island Review

Both state parks meetings (July 7 and July 21) were previewed in a Review story on July 3. A news brief about the July 21 meeting also appeared in the Review's July 17 print edition. The park district has noticed both meetings in the Review's calendar, both in print and online. About 35 people attended last night's meeting. Because of space limitations, not all entries are published in the blotter, but priority is generally given to more serious incidents. Sometimes during ongoing investigations, reports are not made available soon enough to be included in the blotter. If a crime is profiled in a news article (the above story for example) it will usually not be printed in the blotter to save space and avoid redundancy. Thank you for your comment.

Tad Sooter
Review reporter

Re: Island Snapshot | Nap Time - Bainbridge Island Review

Susan, the Review is only granted rights to publish reader-submitted Snapshot images in our print edition and online.
