Dropbox is very good. I have been using it for a good few months now without any problems. I orginally tried Live Mesh but that is slow slow slow and unnecessarily complicated compared to the simplicity, reliability and automation of Dropbox.

I agree in principle that Twitter lists are good.

They are a great way to source new people to follow but ONLY if you trust the creator of the list.

I made a huge mistake of signing up to a few Twibes lists. I thought I was signing up to the Twibes groups. The next things, you are on 100s of peoples lists and the who list thing starts to mutate and mushroom as you get hundreds of spammy follower requests to field through. I took me the best part of a week to undo the mess that took only 5 minutes to create!

Also, like #followfriday there are just some people that dont "get" it.

It is pointless to create lists of "peoplewhofollowedmefollowingthemback" or "reciprocalgratitude" - surely the reason we all started to detest followfriday. So equally, the lists must give a reason WHY in the title of the list for these group of people to be worthwhile.

But despite my negative comment, I do like the lists overall.

Interesting, I have just checked my profile on LinkedIn and yes, it now has the es. prefix for Spain.

But the link to my LinkedIn profile from Twitter still works, and is NOT redirecting to the new es. profile url. Yet linking on your old profile URL Justin DOES redirect.

Do you know why this would be? Are all profile URLs going to change or perhaps mine won't since I dont think there is anyone else with my name.

It makes no sense to restrict user profiles by geo location. Surely the greatest thing about the internet and networking sites is connecting regardless of location.

Very confusing for people that travel for work...

Don't you just love it when you have a question in your head you feel silly to ask and as if by magic the answer is revealed to you! I feel more up to the task with this check list as my aide.

Talking parrots, nuts and talking with donkeys. Yes, I can see why at a glance Twitter could quickly be considering not useful for business.

But I am doing far more than just idle chit chat.

I am connecting with people, networking. As you would do in any networking situation, you do not just repeat your business pitch parrot fashion or talk shop none stop. Instead you would find a connection with your peers, business colleagues and clients.

Twitter is no different than real life. If you use it "naturally" and connect with people, show interest in them by commenting @replies and RT (retweeting) then you will reap the rewards for your business purposes of using Twitter.
Sounds like your friend's company made the classic mistake of using it to churn out PR nothing more.
I would recommend to your friend that he contracts somebody like you (or me if you are too busy Mike) to show you the ropes and trust me, you will be wiping the floor with your less Twitter savvy competitors in no time at all.

On a final note, when you do join Twitter, look me up @nicchick. If you connect with a good group of people on Twitter that utilise it well, then you wont go far wrong and your learning curve will not only be quick but extremely enjoyable.

Apart from that, I dont think there is anything else left that everybody else hasnt said except that if you don't do it, your competitors will!

Great article. I am pleased to learn that I have at the very least tried out most of the above. Not sure if it the same thing really as a start page but I absolutely LOVE Yoono and although I have tried out most everything else, I keep coming back to this wicked sidebar gadget. Not so good for blogs but keeping up with your social media it really is genius!
