I used a bamboo jersey with 4-way stretch that was about a 200gsm. I'm not sure she has that bamboo anymore, but she has cotton 4-way stretch jersey and I think a modal blend.

I also bought some from https://www.fabulousfabrics... as it's local to me. They have a tonne of stock so I physically went in to test the stretch and the drape.

At the time I found L'oiseau, I saw a bunch on Etsy as well, so you may have some luck there.

Hope that helps, and good luck with the project! :D

Re: Pattern: Elephant

Hi! I'm glad this helped you.

You can certainly use Dovecot on a live server, but definitely not with the instructions above, even with a SSL cert. What I did was check for the product specs on the respective sites and watched the how to wear videos.

For a few tips:

If you're looking at the Encircled cardi, the product information and how to wear documentation will allow you to determine dimensions and snap placements. Both of which you can adjust for your height, build and preferred length. You will also want to reinforce the snaps with a backing of ribbon or a bit of woven so that the weight of the item won't drag on the fabric where the snaps are, weakening and potentially causing it to rip over time.

If you're looking at the AngelRox wrap, I found the videos helped to determine scale and size of the panels compared against the model wearing them, and adjust for your size and build.

In both cases, you'll get the best results with an overlocker for stronger seams (I'm sure you could use a regular stretch stitch, but I'm not sure how durable that will be) and 4-way stretch jersey of a light-to-medium weight. Not so light that it's sheer, and not so heavy that it's too bulky when worn.

Good luck!

Re: The Chrysalis Cardi by Encircled

Hi!

Unfortunately it won't be fair to this small business to share how I did it, but if you have a look at their website, some of their how-to documentation should give you details that you can use to reverse engineer it yourself.

Before they had those pages, I used their videos on how to wear the different styles to determine the snap placements.

Good luck! :)

Re: Six Weeks, Carry-On Only

I know two pairs are doable. But the third is like a safety-net in case I forget, or can't be bothered doing my hand-washing on one day. ;)

I hear lots of good things about the exofficio ones, despite their price-point. I did fine with what I had, but when it comes time to buy new undies, I'll definitely be buying a couple of those or the Icebreaker ones. I'm a bit of an Icebreaker fan, they're stuff is so light, warm, and easy to wash.

Re: Ask me anything

Hi RC,

I've sent you an email. :)

Re: Sony A7r part I

Thanks for this. Your post is the only one I've found so far that suggests the intent of actually attaching A-mount lenses with the LA-EA4 in practice and not just in theory (your point about traveling with an A-mount + a couple FE-mount lenses).

I have a bunch of non-Sony A-mount lenses and am trying to decide between the A99 (or rumoured 2014 successor) or the a7/a7r. Some of the older A-mount glass is pretty heavy (Minolta beercans) and I'm not sure if the weight imbalance would be too clumsy on the a7r. Have you tried attaching some of the heavier older lenses with the LA-EA4? How have you found usability with the weight distribution?

Also, do you find benefit in the a99 in-body image stabilisation (IBIS)? If so, do you find the lack of IBIS in the a7r problematic (particularly with the heavier lenses)?

I'm a hobbyist, so your needs would be different to mine, but I would be interested to hear your thoughts. Look forward to reading more about your experience with the a7r. :)

Thanks

Re: milesjai:

I just did the sauce on the stove. It's simple enough to not need the extra fuss of the Thermomix. If you want to try a sauce in the TM, there's a simple ragu recipe in the Every Dday Cookbook that comes with TM when you buy it. But it's also on the website: http://www.recipecommunity....

Just as a warning, I find a lot of the recipes in the EDC a bit bland, so I tend to add more seasoning or other bits to bump the flavours up a bit. Some recipes seem to be heavy handed with the lemon juice as well so I drop those amounts. Just taste as you go as with stove-top cooking to make sure it's to your taste. Or be prepared that you may have to make it more than once to tweak the recipe to your liking.

After reading the comments on that page too, good things to note:
- Careful about over blitzing the veg. I usually hand dice or grate using a food processor because I prefer that texture over the blended one.

- The Worcestershire one of the commenters mentioned is also a good addition.
- If using mushrooms, a bit of porcini powder as well adds a bit of depth.
- Don't overload your TM. It has a 2L capacity, and most of the recipes for the TM will be designed for that volume. I'd be wary of trying to double recipes.
- When working with mince in the TM, you may want to pause operation to get the spatula in to stir it about a bit. Otherwise you might end up with a lump of mince around the blades at the bottom... I speak from experience...

Re: http://www.savethefaeries.com/post/22123372818

Hi Joanne,

Unfortunately, the newsletters are just sent by email and I'm not sure if the recipe sent can be further distributed (copyright stuff). But I compared it to the one on http://www.recipecommunity.... and it's almost the same. Just drop the flour to 200g and the ricotta to 400gm. Or add more parmesan to the one on the site.

As for the sauce, it was my own creation, and from that picture, I'm pretty sure it was essentially:
- couple cloves of garlic, finely chopped
- punnet of grape tomatoes, quartered
- splash of red wine
- handful of basil leaves, roughly chopped

Saute garlic, toss through tomatoes and add a splash of red wine, toss until warmed through, stir through basil. Season to taste.

Re: http://www.savethefaeries.com/post/2154902933

No problem. This miserable level of service needs to be broadcast.

I'm still on the hunt for a decent high tea place in Perth. There was a lovely one at Little Stove in Bicton, but they stopped doing a monthly high tea last year (ish). You may want to look up High Tea Society. There will be a bunch of reviews on there of some high tea places in Perth. You could probably try one of those. Good luck and congratulations to your daughter and son-in-law. :)

Re: http://www.savethefaeries.com/post/3719689633

Thanks for the suggestion, Kathy! According to the manual, rule of thumb is pieces no larger than the hole in the lid. And 2cm cubes are recommended.

I haven't tried using the Thermomix to cut vegetables for stirfry though, because I usually cut them thin so that it cooks evenly and quickly. With a Thermomix you can cut it into chunks I guess, but some pieces may be thicker than others and will end up taking longer to cook. Especially in the case of carrots, you may end up with some pieces being cooked just right and other will still be hard and crunchy.

If you like stirfries but hate cutting, I would recommend a food processor with the bladed attachment.

Re: ecaloshay:

Perhaps ask if you could take a look at some of the Thermomix recipe books they have and if you find one that suits your style of cooking, buy it and give it a go.

You could even go and check out one of your local Thermomix cooking
classes to get some ideas of the other techniques you can use your
Thermomix for.

And don't be afraid to ask questions. :)

If you aren't able to get assistance from your consultant for any reason, I would also recommending contacting your local Thermomix office to give feedback and possibly even ask them to recommend a different consultant.

Re: DIY save-the-date cards

Good to know.
