Honestly, am I the only one who thinks that most of the ork vehicles are total failures? The trukk, the battlewagon and now the worst of them all, the stompa? Sure, there are a lot of bitz in the new packs and the config options are magnificent. Lot of plastic but they still look like childrens toys. Sad.

Re: 40K RUMORS: Ork Stompa Kit

I'm not forgetting the concept - I simply dislike the models. Sure, they are meant to be reflect that the Ork focus on "working" first and foremost and than anything else is irrelevent. All design which isn't mechanical function should go into the realm on psychology (freighten the enemy or boost morale). I do not think that the models succeds with this. When I see the trukk and battlewagon my first reaction is "toys". Perhaps it is the silly wheels. The old trukk is IMHO way better although the wheels really should be tracks. One reason for my trukk dislike (besides wheels) is the positioning of the engine. The new one go american style and the old one european.

I'm very happy that a lot of people loves the Ork stuff and new is way better than none :) But I'll definitely pass on the stompa...

Orks are meant to be "fun" and GW has put a lot of effort into this (perhaps more in the past?). Personally I prefer snotlings, grot riggers and such before monster truck lookalikes. Guess I'm just a bit too old :)

Re: 40K SNEAK PEEK: Stompa Instructions

Well said! Why? The ban of "fantasy games" is for the whole prison so the crimes of the individuals are of no interest unless the prison only contains people who have commited similar crimes. Is that the case? I do not know.

The ban means that no convict in the prison, regardless reason for beeing sentenced, is forbidden to play a fantasy related game. I find this very weird and only makes sense if the *only* objective is punsihment and where there is no interest in having the convicts re-integrated into society. If punsihment is the *only* objective there must surely be more effective ways than a ban on "fantasy games".

Re: ODDBALL: First they Came for the DnD Players and I said Nothing...

Not really, when the state stenences a person to prison there are more factors that "punsihment" involved. The most obvious is that the government wants to protect its members from the individual. The aspect of punishment and to some extent revenge have been mentioned. However, one quite important function of prison is to change the lifestyle of the inmate so that when the sentence is over the individual can integrate into the law abiding society. Examples of this is education programs, therapy, and other rehabilitation programs. Saying that "prison is for punsihment" is an outdated oversimplification of the penal system.

Re: ODDBALL: First they Came for the DnD Players and I said Nothing...

There are always the possibility that a sentence can be found to be wrong later on due to new findings. If a person is sentenced to life he/she may then regain his/hers freedom. Death penalty requires a juridical system which never makes a mistake or that you accept innocent people beeing executed.

Re: 40K NEWS: Venerable Dred, Deff-dred, Killa Kan (Pics)!

I'm betting on a collectors model - a single model will never be a true test if a box will sell - especially since the demand for a flash git model is minimal. In systems where you have a more dynamic actuivation sequence this is a minor problem but in 40k it is huge.

I advocate a random game lenght where you actually may get a game ending "in between" the two players turns when you passed a certain (quite high) number of turns, i.e. game may end after 7.5 turns.

Re: 40K NEWS: Updated Ork & Tyranid FAQS

Well, they also got the Tank-Bustas which would be a great and superfun unit if they had a dedicated transport.

Re: Goatboy's 40k Thoughts: DEFF TO MECH!

It is AV13 and must remain stationary and open topped in order so that the Lootas may fire.
