i dont know when i first heard it the production threw me off. sounds fine relistening now. there's a lott of backup vocals, maybe overdone at times? btw BigSteve, i'd like to read your blog or whatever if you have one...

Haa yeah I went 'artdecade' style with this one. Maybe cause I spent half an hour cruising flickr for the right shot. Ton of japanese 'lift attendants' in official uniform. Click the picture and you'll see what convinced me to choose this one.

Tucumcari has the famous Blue Swallow Motel, a popular Rt 66 attraction.

This is funny, but kind of sad:

"Tonopah's current fame rests largely on the reference to it in the chorus of the song "Willin'" by Lowell George of Little Feat on the albums Little Feat, Sailin' Shoes and Waiting for Columbus.

It is also possible that the song is actually referring to Tonopah, Arizona, in which case that fame is misplaced."

As for Tehachapi, don't know, but it looks like it would make a great geocaching town.

Artists used to pull out all the stops for that show. Nirvana Unplugged was a major event in our house, and the cover songs they chose were brilliant. Plus the Meat Puppets. I prefer this recording over their studio records, stupid as that may sound. I also really liked the Roots with Jay Z unplugged.

I 2nd Gene's nomination, but for a singer/songwriter tournament rather than bands. I keep trying to peg down what's so great about his songwriting and I can't do it. The latest I got is "he's always one step ahead of traditional."
