Why do gays/lesbians want to redefine the term "marriage?" The term "marriage" was originally coined for the religious covenant between a man and a woman for the purpose of procreation. Why do those of us who are legitimately "married" in the true, historical definition of the word have to now come up with a new word because the gay/lesbians have decided they want to use it? Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. Good for Londonderry, joining the chorus of voter voices who are sick and tired of the liberal agenda being forced down our throats. Love the gays/lesbians...hate their social agenda.

Re: Calvary Christian School to close doors

Sorry there. I'm not a fundamentalist. I was simply pointing out the cynical nature of your 10 points. The term "cynical" is not generally meant as an insult...it is another word for negatively skeptical. I too went to public high school and became cynical. A brother went to a christian college and became cynical. The personal attack comes when one begins commenting on another's ego, and uses terms like "self-righteous." It definitely shows your true colors. I have not resorted to name-calling, and you shouldn't have either. I'm sorry you perceived it that way. I am completely capable of forming arguments for the sake of debate on facts and theory alone: I hold two advanced degrees, and have had to do this often in my professional life. I am choosing not to, because I believe it to be unwise in an open, anonymous forum like a blog. Nothing good usually results. I stand, again, amazed at the vitriole in your initial written words and the emotional tone of your subsequent communication . It surprises me not at all that you were not happy at a place like calvary. Good day.

Re: Calvary Christian School to close doors

It does not surprise me that ideological relativism taught you in the public schools evidences itself in such cynicism. However. I am certainly glad you did not continue in ANY Christian school for high school.

I, too spent only my middle school years at Calvary. My experience, along with (again) the VAST majority of attendees at this caring, wonderful, college preperatory school, was completely different than yours. Good luck to you. You will be in my prayers, and yes, this concludes our exchange. It's been interesting.

Re: Calvary Christian School to close doors

Dear CCSalum,

I am sure you can find several alumni who were dissatisfied, as you obviously were, with the educational experience you had at Calvary, and would probably twist things the way you have. The VAST majority of your fellow alumni would respectfully disagree with your assessment of the Calvary experience. I'm sure any one of them would happily sit down and debate you on each point you made, but it would ultimately make no difference. You did not like the place, and your bias speaks for you quite well. Sorry you stayed. Sounds like you would have been a much better fit at your local public high school. You probably would have saved your parents a bit of money too!

Re: Calvary Christian School to close doors

If you did your homework, you would see that a principal came several years ago who increased the tuition and decreased the multiple student discounts available to larger families. That was the beginning of the enrollment drop. If you had done your homework, you would also see that many, many Christian schools are either barely holding on in this economy, or have also closed either their high schools, or their schools entirely. It sounds like you were not a good fit for the school. Hopefully you have found happiness post-graduation. You will continue to be in my prayers.

Re: Calvary Christian School to close doors

Sorry you feel this way. You must not be aware that those teachers were indeed qualified, that the school was an accredited school, and that the percentage of graduating seniors who went on to complete college degrees was enviable. You must not know all of the alumni who will miss this school, its warm atmosphere, and faculty and staff who genuinely loved their students. You will be in our prayers.

Re: Calvary Christian School to close doors

We loved this school. The facility is enviable for any private school, with a huge building, playing fields, gym, an amazing number of classrooms, and a dedicated faculty and staff. All that was missing is the students. Our country needs good private schools like this one so badly. It's a tragedy that the new presidential administration has now consigned our meager paychecks to repayment of debt for stimulus packages that don't work instead of the choice to educate our children outside of the failed public school system. Calvary kids consistently outscored their public school counterparts on standardized testing. When will the government wake up and institute a voucher system? Don't they know that these smaller private schools are exactly what's needed to make our workforce competitive with our foreign neighbors in the future? Apparently the new president thinks so, since he's bypassed the public system with his own children. Outrageous.
