I have
made my point on several occasions and need not make it again. We all
know that you want the last word. As far as deleting your posts, it is
my website and I choose not to have it as a forum for you to air your
tantrums. If you don't like that, then don't visit the site anymore.
Later.

Re: Not Your Father’s Coast Guard Is Available Now.

This book is not about the Coast Guard and it's history. It's about the story of one team and their uknown mission. That was the purpose of the book. Complaining about this not telling the USCG history is like complaining that the movie Miracle, about the 1980 USA team, was no good because it doesn't tell the history of the sport of hockey. That's wasn't it's intentions.

Re: APB for 378 Sailors Past and Present

This says it all.
http://www.flickr.com/photo...

Re: CGBlog Commercial: Core Values

So I went over to those sites to validate your comment, but I couldn't find any of these stories on those site...so I guess that just means your wrong. This should be hopeful for anyone who meets the minimum criteria. That's all I know.

Re: An answer to a problem- boat hull handles

it is a good idea, but, if we get involved then we will need to spend 2-4 years developing a command structure about the handle design, 1-3 more years devolping a concept for the design of the handle, 1 year accepting contract solicitations for the design, 2-4 more years ironing out the kinks in the design of the handles as well as getting handle authorization through the proper chains, then a 4-7 years prospect of handle to unit/vessel implementation, followed by another year of implementing a PQS to instruct people on the proper use of handles. :) But seriously...it is a good idea and PFD's really do help.

Re: Like it or not BMI is standard- loose the weight!

I know that alot of people will counter my point here, but i still feel it's relevant. The USCG is responsible to itself for the current condition of the members. It's a limited amount of units that have mandatory PT in the work day. My last two units before the Galaltin had 1 hour 30 minutes for PT, usually as a unit, with some sports days involved. Now I know that we have a responsibility to ourselves, but from my experience, it's easier to say than do. I was working 6 days a week, in a shipyard/dockside, on a 1-4 duty rotation, with no PT equipment...for a year. Top that off with no galley, no AC, and work days that are completely physically exhausting lasting about 12-14 hours, and the last thing that you have energy or motivation to do is go workout. Hell, I would have to take a nap when I got home just to be able to stay up till 9 to do homework. If the CG want's to clamp down on fitness standards, perhaps they should look internally at their own policies.

Re: Open Discussion/Debate for the week: 20 Sep 2009

The new ME rating. I have talked to several folks that have heard "rumors" that the interest and response is extremely lower than what they had anticipated. What have you all heard? We already know that the advancement has been locked up in anticipation of it's start up. Last I heard from someone in Charleston was that application rate was at about 25% and they were anticipating around 80%. These are not confirmed #'s, just scuttlebutt.

Re: The D.O.G. in Action

I'm sure your hands were tied with OPSEC stuff too. No room clearing techniques, don't show the boats maneuverability, stuff like that. I agree with music being very tough. I would recommend you try Pro Scores:www.videocopilot.net...
It's amazing quality and easy to use. You can also cut your own music without much hassle in garageband, if you have a mac. Check out the Pro Scores, I think you'll dig it. There are also tons of royalty free tracks fro garage band online.

Re: The D.O.G. in Action

In the quote you replied to, I was not meaning press as in the news networks, but as in word of mouth...public viewing. When some one makes a video like this they have several intentions. The first is to tell a story/send a message. The second, and most important, is quality. You want people to like it. If they do, in return, they send it to others...so on and so forth. Expanding the formats in which these videos are made will allow more creative control. The editing options in Final Cut and the correction/mapping techniques in After Effects & Motion are the tools that can truly "polish" a work and make it stand out. Also, i'm not referring to making everything a music video. I'm completely aware of license and copyright rules. We have enough of those on youtube. Adam has a good eye for "action" shots. He has good angles and camera movements. However, if the USCG would give him the above mentioned tools, his work would truly flourish in post production....where 90% of the video happens.

Re: The D.O.G. in Action

sorry to pun on your voice...i meant it from the view point that I have been subjected to so many celebrity voice overs. It wasn't so much a "this guy sounds funny" as it was a "how cool would this be if Jack Bauer was narrating". As far as the movie quality, i cant really explain it, but when I get off vacation I can show you. I think that if the USCG is going to be releasing more videos for press, they should get thier people familiar with Final Cut, After Effects, Motion, etc. I do need to clarify that this video was MUCH better than some of the stuff the CG puts out. Quick cuts, music sync, and good action shots. Nice work. Just curious, how long did it take you to find and edit the video, and what program did you use? PS - loving the action photographs you got. If you notice, most of the wallpapers on this site, or that will be later released are from you. Thanks.

Re: Port Security “A” School, 1969 – 2009.

Peter, sorry to take your mojo, I just saw it last night and figured I would throw it up. I agree that this will not be the last change or merger that we see. I still wonder about that MK and EM merger since one is at 110% and the other is a critical rating. We shall see.

Re: The Untucked ODU. Actually, the TACLET's were originally given the ODU as a primary uniform. It was worn tucked in, but did not have the "fat boy" button on the bottom, so it could have been worn untucked. It was tapered in the blouse also. The were made by CAMCO, who makes the Marines and NG uniforms. They were the best. I still have mine 6 years later. No fades, no rips, extremely durable. I miss them. :(

Re: M.E.
