Agreed, though I am a bit surprised to read his article. He correctly pointed out the enormity of subprime collapse back in 2007. I would have thought that he might be more rational.

Jim Grant is an economist I respect a lot. Even he is forecasting a sharp V-shaped recover.

Tim,

You seem to be picking points selectively. In 1938-1939 chart, after F, there are 2 attempts to rally before the steep rally takes place.

In the current chart, there are no such attempts. It is a sharp reversal and no turning back.

Quite possibly. You could have said the same around August 22, and you would be proven wrong. (Shorted then using Dec/Jan Puts, still holding them.)

Thanks. What I really wanted to know was - what is the significance of not filling that gap even after multiple attempts over a few months time period. Does it tell you anything about market's long-term behavior and price action? Is the damage permanent?
