Indeed. I generally don't like ad hominems either, but in this case, to heck with it. Her statement combines callousness, cluelessness and indifference into such a neat little hate-wrap. However I do think you are being unfair to witches.

of course the sick irony is that such shortsightedness can backfire, even in the short term, as evidenced by the disaster in the gulf. i doubt they'll find a way to turn this into net profit. hmm. unless of course the federal government simply hands them a huge wad of taxpayer $, which wouldn't be too surprising.

'tis true and i like the John Cage piece where he had someone sit at the piano for a given number of minutes/seconds. what was it called? there's a Son Of Pete record too - a 7" 45RPM record with nothing in the grooves for three minutes. these pieces are, as few things are, perfect.

yah heavy stuff but important. there's a lot of positive efforts going on to help the situation, many courageous and wise people involved, so that's part of why i felt compelled to post. that and the fact that this has not been covered in the mainstream media, and that it was hard to get funding to even make the movie, when funding is available for the War On People, and.. i could go on but, it seems like something everyone should see. peace out and thanks for the comments freeMP3seeker

yes, i climbed shasta once, a 14,000+ ft peak, with paul and ben and some friends and fam. swore on the way to 10,000 foot camp, that i was done. sleep and hang out there was the plan. not an ounce of strength left in me. but when dawn came, after one of the deepest sleeps of my life, i figured i'd give it a go. 11,000 feet, feeling good but strugling. 12,000 feet: a completely different world. cold, insane winds, cliffs to not step over, light headed, dehydrated no matter how much water you drink. good clean fun. 12,500 feet, got religion. 13,000 feet, lost my faith. 14,000, gave up. not going a step further. if it weren't for the yelling at me of my comrades, that i had come this far, i wouldn't have gone the final bit to the summit. at this stage it was, one step. pause. breathe, try not to falter. another step, repeat. slow. ly. un. til. fin. ally. at the top. the most beautiful view i'd ever seen. expired. dead. happy. guess what? now you get to climb down, which is the more dangerous part. this was Shasta! a mere pimple compared to Everest. to each his own.
