I feel as the postscript narrative is read aloud in my head that Coldplay's "Beautiful World" should be slowly fading in, and the screen blackening as white text is scrolled upwards for a good 5 min or so.

I am routinely blown away by your writing. You should seriously consider writing a book. I know there are at least three good ones in you.

I can see the reasoning for an online class to require some sort of creative way to engender a sense of interaction. I also see the value of requiring a set number of comments per week, in fact it's rather a good idea of how to solve the dilemma caused by the lack of actual face to face time.

Personally I feel that the lack of substance in some of you classmates reply's, due to the additional requirement of 200 words, is due to their own laziness. The joke is in the fact that they do themselves the disservice of not putting forth the necessary effort to make every portion of what they post, that of substance. One can indeed create a relevant thought in response to someone else s posted idea/ideas, and I don't believe it would be very difficult to then take that idea and meet a 200 word quota, though if it does not, how hard is it to then create or form another thought of that idea/ideas. Is there then a quota on how much one should think about the previous persons post?

The more I think about this, the more I recall my misbegotten adventures in "Community College". I felt the same there, that the work submitted, as well as the assignments were a "joke". To me it seems the the educational system, outside of the ivy league schools, in this country are to me what the substance of what your peers are posting.

Could it be that if one finds that what they have built from scratch was not worth the time/effort, that perhaps it in all actuality is due to the fact that not enough time/effort was spent in it's creation? Nine months later does not mean nine months of work. Also, your link to andrewski.com is dead.

I'm not sure the remarks here, are really relevant to the quote. Gruber is speaking on the creation of a "unique brand", where it seems the comment on the quote really is not speaking about brands but about software features? I could be wrong about this but, I see Gruber's quote as being nicely insightful, where as the following comment has nothing to do with the preceding text.
