The Republicans were the old, Yankee stock trying to hold onto power during a time when successive waves of immigration had weakened their base. The Irish who had come in during the mid-1850's had already chipped away and taken mayors' seats and majorities on city councils and the French Canadians that had come later in the 19th Century were starting to flex their muscles and the Italians and Eastern Europeans who came before World War I were siding with these groups to the detriment of the conservative Republicans.

You want truth Veritas? We baby-boomers remember that Gwen Stacy was Peter's love interest, Mary Jane was Harry Osborn's girlfriend and the Peter/Mary Jane connection wasn't made until their previous partners met untimely ends.

As for the reviewers' complaints about the new Peter being "emo," the makers of the film are rewriting a story that's been told over and over again and you have to take some liberties to attract the modern-day audience; an audience that consists more of kids and young adults than old-timers like me. Something else the reviewer misses, is the fact of the smartass Spidey displayed in this movie better than any of the previous three.

If you ever read the comics books, you'd know that Spidey had a comment for everyone, about everything, even at times when he was getting his butt kicked. Andrew Garfield plays this role much better than Tobey Maguire ever did, Maguire stayed the high school Peter Parker nerd and never evolved into the wise-cracking Spidey; Garfield makes the transition quickly and seamlessly.

The only real flaw I found with the movie was the introduction of a back story about Peter's parents that never existed previously. If the reviewer really wanted to pick on something, that should have been the obvious choice.

Overall, it was a very good movie that sets up a new story line to a new audience and includes in the old-timers such as myself enough to keep us interested. For proof, I offer the fact that I saw the movie with my 19-yr old son and he enjoyed it more than the other iteration he's familiar with because he could relate to it more. If anything, this review is an #epicfail.

Re: Mystery Grows Over When Romney Actually Left Bain

If this was a court of law, this would be an opposing lawyer's dream.
