In fact, I encourage it. My API is available at http://0870.me and you can use it however you like (mobile, web, some even use it in a PBX).

Re: Barcelona and Mobile World Congress – the bad and the ugly and how to avoid it

I'd recommend buying a bag from Crumpler (http://crumpler.co.uk). Their bags are "weasel proof" (their words). The one I have is very hard to open without me knowing, the strap is made from tougher material than a car seatbelt (which is very hard to cut quickly), and it's very thick. None of the pockets are accessible without fully opening it first too. The bags aren't cheap, but they're definitely worth it.

My plan is just to empty my pocket contents (and MWC pass) into my bag before leaving MWC.

If you *really* need to keep a phone in your pocket while you're away from the event, use one of the £20 PAYG phones from Tesco. It doesn't matter if that gets nicked.

Re: Are we ready to declare the Palm Pre dead in the UK & Ireland?

I got a free one from O2 Litmus and really liked it. I tried using it as my main phone for a day, and was considering switching from my iPhone. Annoyingly, the touch screen decided to pack in and I had to get it replaced. Can't use it if I can't rely on it working though, and there's not enough people using a Pre to warrant developing for them.

I gave the replacement to my girlfriend, and she really likes it. She upgraded from a Sony Ericsson W810 to a G1 (another of my hand-me-downs) last year, and then from the G1 to the Pre. As to which she prefers - G1 or Pre - well, the boat is out on that one!

Re: HulloMail: 30 days later and I’m still loving it

I've just registered for HulloMail - it seems like a very interesting service. One thing I did like is that, not only does it sync with your Google contacts, but also your MobileMe account (and a load more).

It's also VERY quick. I left myself a voicemail, and before I had chance to actually check my email, it had arrived (hooray for push!).

Re: Operators offering SIM only data deals

We get our data sims from Vodafone - it's the £15 per month deal. If you don't take the dongle, they credit your account with £150.

Re: iPhones like Facebook

Got a source for these numbers?

Re: iTunes m4p to mp3 converter/ripper?

Make sure that iTunes is set to "import" as MP3 (in the preferences, under Import settings). Then, right click on the track and choose "Create MP3 version".

Sorted.

Re: What do you use for version / source control?

At GoSpoken, we're using http://beanstalkapp.com for hosted Subversion. Highly recommended!

Take a look at Git too - it offers a lot more than SVN, and can be used in conjunction with it too.

Re: N95 8GB: Phone start-up failed. You can't have background apps - when the phone app is launched, your voice recording app would be forced to quit, and then started again after the call has ended.

Point 11, I think, is an iPhone thing. Developers can't disable or suppress them, but they may be able to pause the game if one appears - not 100% on that though.

I agree with almost every single one of your points though.
