My instinctive answer is: "practice, practice, and practice." When working on a project, try to come up with 5 different concepts, and a to come up with a few variations for each of them. The more you stretch your creative and conceptual muscles, the better they'll get.

At the same time, you also have to do things that serve the project at hand. My project here was to create a visually striking poster about a specific architectural movement. In addition to that, I had the objective of demonstrating the potential uses of the texture pack I'm mentioning in the tutorial. Knowing what the architectural style was, I went through a few stages of trial and error to determine what combinations of textures, colors, and type would have the desired end result (the nice poster).

On top of that, the type of textured treatment applied to this poster is very much my own "style," which is something you develop through practice, and experimentation.

Finally, you'd be surprised, but I got some feedback that was pretty critical of some of the design decisions I've made, which is great, because it's giving me things to think about for the next one. You can read that feedback here: https://www.reddit.com/r/id...

I hope this helps!

Re: Building a brutalist conference poster with Jason Carne’s Texture Lot One (Free Poster Mockup included)

Awesome sauce! It looks like you were able to follow the instructions to a T. Let me know if you have any questions.

Did you learn a trick or two that you'll be able to re-use in other projects?

Re: Easy to accomplish VSCO Cam effect in Photoshop

Hey Spencer, the way the presets are labeled in VSCO Film is different than in the app. I'm not even sure that they closely match anyways. I suspect that VSCO has a set of presets exclusive to the app, and that the ones for Photoshop/Lightroom are close, but not the same.

Re: Easy to accomplish VSCO Cam effect in Photoshop

Thank you for your kind words, Emily. I had a very quick look at A6 again, and I think the trick would be in the color adjustment step. A6 has a slightly more warm orange vibe than what I did here.

Alas, as I've said to someone a while back, it's all about trial and error :-)

Re: Easy to accomplish VSCO Cam effect in Photoshop

Thank you Jessi! I think that you should be able to execute most of the tutorial. As long as you have access to adjustment layers, you're good. The parts that are tricky are probably the ones that involve the blur.

Give it a shot, and let us know how it goes!

Re: Thank you, everyone.
