WOW! Truly a classic! Too bad that last shot didn't fall, but still one heck of a season. With IU down this year it was good to see one of our "Hoosier" teams play great ball!

Why water down the BEST tournament of any sport?!? It renders conference tournaments useless and is all about money. Typical modern attitude, lets just pass everybody in the class so all can feel good about themselves, but is not based on any real achievement. What happened to go out there and EARN it?
Does anybody really believe that any team 66 through 96 has any real chance to win a title? Heck, even the 16 seed can't even win one game.

An excellent point to be aware of and heed. Patience required, then progress.

Throw Zeller and/or Dawson with our present good core of guys and we will have to be a little less patient and start to shine soon like Baylor did this year. Also, Drew was able to get kids to Waco, no easy task, but he did patiently build to get them to this level.

Props to fellow home state ballers Butler. Playing with good fundamentals, hustle, & teamwork, showing "Hoosier spirit" that our state is famous for and soon will return to Bloomington.

Young squads are prone to turnovers, so this is a BIG issue to improve upon during the offseason. There have been a few glimmers of hope of ball security & sharp execution than suddenly a big step backwards.
I feel our guys have learned a lot but failed to apply it consistently. In other words, young guys get good from experience which comes from making mistakes and learning from them. I predict much less turnovers next year, and so more wins. Go IU!

The game, especially Indiana hoops, is always more fun when one plays hard, smart, & together. That is a very good point you bring up and glad to see our boys enjoy the game the way it is supposed to be. I think many overlooked that(fun in just playing) in the giddy feelings of the win. I believe we will see more of that spirit in the future.

Well said, our boys are ridden with the disease called 'youth' and they are gathering some seasoning, but the fact is they have 'hit the wall' as many young players find out and so struggle like a punched out boxer throwing punches that lack any zip or pop and waiting for the final bell.

I think you are reading way too much drama into this. We just have a young team that has 'hit the wal' and are limping down the home stretch. It happens to nba rookies and especially college freshman.

Good to see he cares and is not afraid to bark a little. Sometimes you gotta light a fire under the troops to show them this is NOT acceptable.
Got to give the badgers props, they may not be exciting but they are efficient, which just accents our weaknesses.

Wanted: Big Man, loads of PT available, program on the upswing, great fanbase, nationally recognized program, no bench time for reasonable skill ability, an awesome opportunity to become part of a great line of college bball history & championships.
Just need a willingness to work, a team attitude, and desire to learn on the court & in classroom, and PLEASE be able to REBOUND! :o)

Yeah, I agree, the Colts are a solid fundamental team. It works at all levels. Even under-talented Northwestern plays good fundamentals and are having a record year for that program.
Perhaps, we were spoiled by seeing Knight teams. He was a rare kind of coach. Maybe Coach Crean can pop in some old tapes and pick up a few tips to develop our struggling Hoosiers. I think Coach Crean is doing a good job under the circumstances, but I would like to see some simple things like more 'jump stops, shot fakes, and safe simple passes to the open teammate.' It would pay big dividends.

That part is tough for me to watch too! I can handle risky mistakes as they learn BUT NOT the foolish, high risk with no reward, silly, flat learning curve junior high/middle school casual lazy passes/turnovers!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh!!!! Someone please stop the madness and bring back good fundamental team-oriented Indiana basketball, I can tolerate the score if that happens and the shots don't fall!!!

Good point, many IU fans are getting frustrated. We are not used to seeing OUR team get soundly defeated with little hope of winning or just keeping it close & hoping for a miracle.
Granted, we are rebuilding & and the Big Ten is stronger from top to bottom( o.k. maybe not iowa) but it's tough to see our team goes down in flames in this brutal stretch. I keep watching out of; loyalty, a realistic slim hope of victory, & mostly of team improvement. However, young inconsistency can try even the most stout-hearted fans. Being patient, but NOT liking it, as I wait for the glory of ol' IU to be restored.

Reality check; young teams stink! Young teams rebuilding stink more! This program WILL require more than 1-2 years to fix.
Our expectations are WAY out of reality. Yeah, I know it is tough to watch when the inconsistency or turnover monster bites our guys, but the flashes of improvement, developing fundamentals, & raw bball skills will pay BIG dividends down the road, if we can be patient & set reasonable expectations.
Anybody got a decent goal/expectations for our guys this year without sounding like Chicken Llittle or some middle school instant gratificationteen calling for the coaches head or crying that it's the end of the world?

Technical foul on the refs for being foul on their calls, I think Pritchard must owe those refs some money or they had nittany lions T-shirts under their stripes, because 2 of those fouls were pathetic. He looked completely stunned on one. We are having a rough enough season with out the refs dog piling on.

Crean could only laugh increduously or he would have blew a blood vessel in his brain.

Like a good veteran quarterback in football, a team's veteran point guard can often make a BIG difference. Savvy veterans make less mistakes!

This year we did not have one. We had young guys doing their best and growing along slowly. It will pay off NEXT year, but progress is all we really truly can expect. We all tend to hate being told 'patience' yet I'm sure we all never felt it so frustrating as this year. I know I feel it, but I think the players feel it a whole lot more than the faithful fans. Being so close so many times and having the door shut in their faces. It is the times that build character and wash out the weak ones.

The fact we are in so many games speaks volumes about our team's effort & TC and is a miracle in itself. How do young guys get successful? By making less mistakes. How do they make less mistakes? By first making lots of mistakes & getting experience. A painful process, but rarely avoidable, especially on the higher levels.

"I was impressed that we had a chance at the end, we have got the 'play hard' part down pretty well. Now we just have to add the 'play smart' & 'play together' to move up.

Hurting, but still rooting for our boys; (p.s. & never give up hope! )

Knew Coble & Moore were good, didn't expect Thompson to hit too. NW is not the cupcake of old. They knocked off Mich St. away, so don't be too hard on our Hoosiers.

Our young guys did the best they could. I was just hoping we could hit a few more open shots. Dumas looks completely out-of-sync. I hope he can get back on track soon.

One unexpected surprise is Taber being a vital factor in our "O" running decent. Never would have thought that, I was just hoping for some D & rebounding from him. Well done, Taber.

Got point JerryCT, just having someone handle the ball more safely (i.e. Rivers) we would have definitely won more games this year and next year he will be available without having to wait for the normal freshman catch-up period. He is already battle tested and savvy. Throw in his leadership and look out B10.

Hey Kelin, you got any stats or notes on that B-town South game? Anyone see the game?

VJ, I believe would be much more effective off the ball that would allow him to hit those seams with less helpside D. He reminds me of Reggie Miller without the 3 shot.
