Microsoft does Cloudbook. I think - and it is IMHO - that the writer misses the point. The laptops are cheap because, well, they're cheap. The vendors hardly make any money out of them (around $8 to $10 for a $200) so they want to cut corners where possible. Hence why they are cheap. If you want to buy a $200, I always advise people to pick up a second hand model from eBay with a 12-month warranty. A Lenovo ThinkPad, a Dell Latitude even 2nd generation Core i5 models will trample any of these $200 laptops.

Re: Acer Predator 21 X hands on review | TechRadar

[a] Haven't seen a 4K curve screen monitor for desktop yet
[b] 4K in 21:9 doesn't exist. Do you think Google and Chrome OS do it differently? Apple is different as the bulk of their revenue comes from hardware and services. I don't recall how much money Bing makes but they have to proceed with care esp with Enterprise editions (you certainly don't want MoD PCs to start broadcasting data).

Re: 8 things Microsoft gets criticised for (but not Apple or Google)

They're a bit less arrogant now that there's plenty of solid competition around.

Re: 8 things Microsoft gets criticised for (but not Apple or Google)

I don't think they sell user data collected on the OS to advertisers.
