Chart 1? Come on - it counts for something but when it comes to practical effects of the economy Chart 4 still demonstrates that unemployment is too high still (greater than 8%, despite its attempt to hide it through making it comparable to the stagflation years of the 70's) and that median household income has been in decline. The other charts are mostly smoke and mirrors for the layman; talk of corporate profits for example instead of overall business profits or small business profits once again raises the question of how effective this recovery is for everyone.

'Buy local' campaigns are blatant rehashes of import substitution industrialisation that was attempted in latin america during the second half of the 20th century and failed. Haiti should be attempting to bolster their most export-friendly industries and improve them as much as possible.
