the mastering (mixing?) on Youngster kind of kills me, but WAB, WAD is getting a purchase since I'm kind of thrown off by how good it is (and how much more I like John Goodmanson producing that band than I like Dave Newfield doing so). I don't even understand why I love this band as much as I do, or why I hope they get another two records out this year.

Does the LP come with the extras included with the CD? Also, if you have the Hold On Now Youngster LP/12", is it any less painfully loud than the CD is?

I really really wanted to post a video of a kid freaking out over a Charizard card, but I can't find it. I also thought about posting a video here in which a kid yells about chocolate milk, but the sentiment isn't the same. So no.

Pitchfork can only exist to disappoint you. Pretty surprised to see most of the records in the Honorable Mention section that I'm seeing there, especially that Nico Muhly disc that got something like a 5 when it was first reviewed.

Starfucker was decent, but mostly failed to capture the live band on record and only had two really fully-formed songs (German Love and Pop Song). The rest felt sort of formless and meandering in comparison, and the Madonna cover was better than any of the other new material. From what I've heard, though, they're already working on new stuff and it's much more in the Pop Song vein than it is everything else on the record. And that's promising, since a proper record of pop music by Starfucker will more likely than not be fantastic.

I have to wonder just how many Lil Wayne tracks exist at this point that we are never supposed to hear. I'm kind of inclined to assume that there's an ever-enlarging vault of them more or less occupying space and depressing the hell out of everyone who doesn't make unofficial mixtapes and/or mixtape voiceovers.
