I think another factor that needs to be addressed when thinking about whether to have multiple accounts is whether you're a global agency- if you're running competitions and engaging with fans in different regions, should the Twitter account be localized?

Re: Millennials Still Optimistic

Great post! I would also include that a lot of millennials are the children of immigrants and are first-generation Americans. They know what their parents have gone through & sacrificed so that they receive amazing opportunities.

Re: Back to Reality with some Bling on my Finger and Renewed Perspective

Congratulations!!! I don't get the appeal of Foursquare- I think businesses can use it to their advantage, but I don't want people to know my every move. I think the comments he made in the interview were inexcusable, but I don't think he was being malicious. He's just that guy who tends to say the wrong thing- but in his case, it shows up in print with millions of people watching. I think a lot of the time he's kidding and a lot of people don't get his sense of humor. He has an enormous amount of talent and if he sticks to what he does best, he'll be fine. People should remember that this is the man who wrote "My Stupid Mouth", so in all fairness he warned us awhile ago.

Re: Celebrity Representation

To be honest I do too, and I'm trying to learn everything I can from them! I agree with the celebs you said are PR nightmares, even though I don't consider Jon Gosselin a celebrity because he isn't talented or even interesting.

As for the celebrities who I would LOVE to work with one day: George Clooney, Matt Damon, Jennifer Garner, and Jennifer Aniston!

Re: Celebrity Representation

I work for the company which represents the Beckhams, so I'll pass on the kudos to their publicists :-)

Re: The Paradox of Building Stronger Online Relationships

Adding that article to my bookmarks to read later! I completely agree with you- the way a brand or company acts online should be reinforced by the way they interact with their customers in person, and vice versa. As to how we can extend relationships beyond the digital space? I think it's about being kind, courteous, and quick- people love the immediacy social media offers, and while issues usually aren't resolved as quickly in real life, even taking that first step to reach out and get down to the heart of a problem would be a big step up. In the social media space, companies monitor their brand and tend to approach customers who have problems who complain. I think adapting that in a real life setting would ensure customer loyalty.

Re: Drew Benvie on ‘Lessons from Foursquare’

Foursquare definitely has potential for businesses. The restaurant Hummus Brothers was one of the first UK businesses I noticed taking advantage of it- whoever becomes Mayor gets 1/2 off their meal. Figure skating may not align with the typical "masculine" aesthetic but most guys can't lift a girl over their head while ice skating! If we're going to talk about whether a sport should be considered as one, let's discuss curling.

Re: Moving Away and Moving On

Thanks! Now that I am older, I've come to the same conclusion as you: it's made me stronger. I don't think about the friends I've lost touched with, I only focus on the ones I still have. I've realized that if I hadn't moved, I wouldn't have half my friends in my life. Above it all, moving helps you become more accustomed to change and how to deal with acclimating in a new climate- stuff that you'll need as you change jobs, etc. Great post!

Re: So I Made a Mistake: The Art of Eating Crow & Connecting with Your Personal PR Network

I don't think you have anything to be ashamed of- we all make mistakes, and you took the right steps to rectify the situation. I think Kevin Smith was justified in complaining, but after Southwest apologized in a timely manner (& via Twitter, blog post and apparently a phone call), I think he should have stopped complaining. He could have just said "I won't be flying SW anymore" and be done with it.

Now that sorry doesn't cut it, what will?

Re: Today is awesome.

So true- just fixed that! :-)

Re: Vanity Fair’s Latest Cover Lacks Diversity and Seems Racist

I've always been a fan of Vanity Fair's Young Hollywood isssue, but if you look back at the last 10 years, they aren't very racially diverse. 10 years ago maybe Hollywood wasn't very diverse, but like you pointed out, Freda Pinto and Zoe Saldana have just as much of a right to be on the cover as Kristen Stewart & co. As Jezebel points out here: http://jezebel.com/5466948/... Teen Vogue does a good job of adding diversity in their magazine. Not sure why Vanity Fair can't follow suit (when in fact they should be leading the way)- maybe it has something to do with the fact of who their target audience is? In my opinions, it's Vanity Fair's loss- another magazine will be all too happy to feature a diversity of women on their cover, and VF will just look stupid.

On the other hand, they could have known exactly what they were doing & did it on purpose to stir up controversy- no ones talked about Vanity Fair since the Miley Cyrus "scandal."

Re: Being Homesick: Unfiltered.

I'm originally from Delaware but live in London at the moment. I get homesick ALL THE TIME, but luckily I have American friends here that can help me get through it. I also have that same gut wrenching feeling whenever I leave the US and come back to the UK...it settles down after a few days. But the homesickness is growing stronger, and I figure I can deal with it at the time being, but will definitely come back to the US in the future.

Re: Vanilla Ice and Crisis PR

I love this- who knew Vanilla Ice could warrant such PR advice?
