Ah, I've had my eye on that Boden coatigan, but couldn't justify the purchase living in California. Now we're moving to the Midwest and I'll actually wear it. Since it has an open front, do the lapels (?) flap around a lot?

My thoughts are with you, Kathy. I've lost a few cats in my life (cancer, hit by a car on Clubhouse Drive the day after moving in, stroke) and no matter how prepared you are, it is never easy. Thinking about my kitties who have passed on is always painful and sad, but it's comforting to know that you've given another little life love, comfort and happiness.

I agree that this is a stupid waste of resources and there are far more serious, non-quality of life crimes and nuisances that desperately need police attention, like people using my driveway for open air drug deals a half block off Haight or violently fighting in the middle of Cole Street, but Twitter, right? I guess Mid Market is going to be Ed Lee's Times Square.

I'd also like to add that street harassment is awful and shouldn't be so easily dismissed. I'd walk through Mid Market every day on my way home from work and would have to steel myself to make it through the gauntlet that started with the chess games and ended at Van Ness. It sucks.

So true, Em. Your legs are thinner (and longer!) than mine, so it totally makes sense that we're denim opposites. I tried on the Gap jeggings the other day and wow, am I not made for those. They look hella good on you though!

Thanks, Laia. The rip is big enough that a patch won't do, so I'll look into outsourcing their recreation to India or the domestic options suggested in the comments (thanks!).

As for the eBay comments, that's where I looked when the jeans first started to turn and I do indeed have a saved search. However, I have never found one pair in the year or so that I've been looking. I mean, I wouldn't write into a fashion advice column if I hadn't exhausted all obvious resources. Duh!

I have a tattoo on my inner wrist that includes script and guys always seem to think it's acceptable to grab my wrist and fondle it. Why not just ask me what it says instead of feeling me up? To add to the (unintended) tattention, the tattoo actually says "unlucky," which I always have to explain as actually being a good-luck charm because my tattooist was hella superstitious. I also had a male co-worker come up behind me once, grab my shirt and stretch the fabric so he could see the tattoo between my shoulder blades. It was perhaps the most inappropriate thing I’ve experienced in the workplace.

I got drunk at a Niners game (before the game, really), got lost on the way to the bathroom, managed to exit the park, use a Port-A-Potty in the parking lot, get in line to enter the park again (something that is not allowed) and somehow convinced the ticket lady to let me sneak back in by ducking under the turnstile, even though I didn't even have my ticket on me. Then I yelled inappropriate things from my endzone seats at Chris Isaak.

I hate water, but I drink liters of bubbly mineral water. I guess I like it because it's fancy. If I'm just hibernating at home on the weekends, I drink it straight out the glass bottle.
