I think you've picked 3 great goals for the new year. I, of course, have a great interest in your Devs goal. It's a tough thing to do, to make typing on a computer seem interesting :) But I have always felt that Baltimore has a crazy strong core of developers. The OrderUp team alone is like a Who's Who of Baltimore Developers, or as I like to call them, the "Justice League" equivalent of developers.

The Diversity goal is something that I've always enjoyed seeing a focus put on as well. I have seen great things come from having a diverse group of perspectives collaborating.

Thank you for the great work you do for Baltimore and for pushing yourself to become even better. As I like to say (and I wish I could remember where I heard it first so I could give credit), "You are never standing still, you are either moving forward or falling behind." Keep moving forward!

So many good points in this article. My favorite event that was ever held was the First Baltimore Hackathon. It was my introduction to the Baltimore Tech Community (despite having lived here all my life and being in the tech field professionally for 12 years by that point). It was exactly what I wanted to get out of an event as a developer: Low pressure, more about hanging out and working on cool things than building a business or winning a competition. It gave me a chance to set aside time to work on something that I thought was cool but I didn't feel any pressure if I totally bombed at it.

I think that a very important part of a students success depends on their ability to function appropriately in a professional environment. Students need experience in these environments before their income and livelihood depends on it. That's why I think work study should be part of the school curriculum.

Book sounds great. I pre-ordered the kindle version already. What stinks is the epub version is like $28 compared to the kindle version for $17. But it sounds like the material is well worth it. Can't wait to read it.

I tried the early Beta but stopped. Now I use Flock. I'm not sure if I'll switch to v3 or not.
