How about making the decision based on the fact that you'd be trespassing (unless you have some kind of written agreement with the owners, which I doubt anyone does)? I am glad for the victims family that she was found, but teams that insist on "investigating" any property without permission make all of us look bad.

Am I the only one that hears Data's voice (from The Goonies) everytime they say "booby trap"? I am wondering about the dye as well as another poster. They showed on one of the episodes where someone had done that in the past, why not do it again?

Another person that insists on saying that poor little Jessie was interrogated for way longer than he actually was. The FIRST, of many, confessions came withing a 4 1/2 hour window of being picked up, questioned, having his father sign permission for the polygraph, and then more questioning. He was not coerced, he was not denied anything and it was certainly not "hours upon hours".

Mike has every right to be concerned about the admitted and convicted whiny felon living in his town. I will say it again, if Damien "hates" his celebrity he needs to quit putting himself out there EVERYWHERE and just shut the hell up.

As stated above, he had a new evidentiary hearing to start the process of clearing his name. HIS defense decided that it would be better for him to plead guilty to first degree murder and admit there was enough evidence to be convicted AGAIN, rather than have a new trial. Wonder why that is?

Personally, I would be glad to have my child tutored by someone who is obviously intelligent enough to do the proper research and not sit behind his keyboard like an unamed coward who obviously doesn't know what they are talking about.

I have serious reservations about anyone that actually bases their opinion of the case on any of the Paradise Lost mockumentaries. I don't see him shying away from ANY opportunity to keep his name relevant and adding to his cult of "chupacabras" daily. This is a man that claimed he had to relearn how to eat with fork when he was released, yet people seem to have had no problem paying 200 bucks to let him use a tattoo machine on their bodies so they could forever be adorned with the mark of the beast.

Mike, as I know you and Trench know, it is very hard to stop this crazy train, and the more you try the more vicious people get. We live in a society that gives death threats to an author just because they don't like the way she ended a series of books. God help those of us that don't think Echols and crew are innocent. Once again people are taking the word of other people that have not bothered to do in depth research and just regurgitate the PR machine. The DNA that was tested matches a good number of the population, not just Terry. People had no problem proclaiming a witch hunt on Byers because he had his teeth removed (among other reasons) and then when he decided that he needed money so bad, he was willing to say Damien was innocent, they jumped off that bandwagon so fast it made your head spin. An absolute sample was not gotten from Terry, they snuck around and grabbed a cigarette butts to test. Those tests results show a single nucleotide heteroplasmy and prevent the samples from being described as matching and could belong to 12,000 people in the metro area population, and at best it can say that Terry "cannot be excluded".

The stories that have come out recently about Terry are beyond ridiculous and obviously driven by money and/or people seeking their "15 minutes". Anyone that actually digs into the DNA reports could make up all sorts of things. For example, the HLA DQalpha alleses on one of the pendants tested matched both Jason Baldwin and Stevie Branches DNA. Same goes for blood on Jessie Miskelley's shirt which also matched Michael Moore. But no, all people have to hear is the watered down version, "One of the hairs found matches Terry's DNA" and the crazies continue to come out of the woodwork. Terry really has no hope of defending himself against the stories that get crazier by the day. I am not surprised it's taken him this long to speak up.

The "exonerated" thing cracks me up, as done anyone that believes it. If this delusional man HAD been exonerated he would not be under the terms and conditions of a convicted felon and subject to have the sentence reinstated if he commits another crime. I am so so tired of the media not ever actually doing any research of their own, instead taking the word of a convicted AND admitted child murderer.

Mr. Echols own attorney asked the State of Arkansas to forgo the planned evidentiary hearing to get a new trial and to let his client plead his guilt to three counts of first degree murder, admitting there was enough evidence to be reconvicted if a new trial was held, but yet the organizers of the Salem Film Festival choose to ignore this fact since Mr. Echols keeps harking the lies that he has been “exonerated”, and why not? The likes of Peter Jackson, Johnny Depp, and Eddie Vedder swear to the world that Mr. Echols is innocent by spouting mistruths and out right lies that prove they have either never actually read the case documents, which have been available on line for many years, or they choose to ignore the actual facts of the case. West of Memphis is nothing but a vehicle to try to shift the blame to one of the step-parents of the victims and a way to line pockets with the money of the deliberately mislead.

Anyone who has paid for a ticket to the festival has paid to put money in the pocket of a self-confessed child murderer and shown absolutely no respect for the victims. Remember the victims? Michael Moore, Chris Byers, and Stevie Branch, three innocent boys, murdered before their life really had a chance to begin. They will never know what it is like to have the chance to attend a film festival or a concert; because that choice was taken away from them on May 5, 1993 by the man who admitted guilt on August 19, 2011 and who remains a convicted felon. The same man the organizers of this event are seeking to honor. Shame on all of them and anyone who falls for the lies and deliberate deceit this festival promotes.

Trench, you know I appreciate all that you do, not just with this case, but as a whole. I would have supported any decision you made, but I'm really glad to know you are not going quietly into that good night. When he started calling his cult that ridiculous name, the first thought was...he's found a way to call his followers suckers and have them like it! The tide IS going to turn. Echols is going to do whatever he can to feed his narcissism, and it will be is undoing..eventually. I don't it doesn't mean a lot in the big scheme of things, but I'm proud to have you on the Non side with the rest of us.

lol I get asked that a lot. No, to my knowledge we are not related. I've been working on his genealogy for a long time, and his Arkansas kin do not have the Byers surname.

I agree with everything you (and Krayon) have said. After all the crap I have had to read this last week from people that cannot think for themselves (much less spell their opinion correctly), it does my heart good to read your stance. Thank you so much for taking the time to post it.

Your last 5 sentences sum up my experience exactly. As I've said elsewhere when talking about this movie, This movie was nothing that I expected and all I’ve ever wanted in a “scary” movie. I have never seen a "scary" movie that affected me like this.
