I used to read romance novels, but then I preferred yaoi for the added level of drama. To me, incest is just another level of drama on top of that, so of course I'd love it! Your view isn't unpopular, but it is very flawed. If the plan was to awaken Adam and initiate Instrumentality, then Shinji's psyche was of no consequence. It's established by Hideaki Anno that contact with Lillith would give the same results, but Kaworu chose not to persue this. "Now, erase me from this world. Looking at all the evidence it's much more likely that Tabris sacrificed himself to save the Lilin and to save Shinji.
The rabbit-hole is much deeper than you think and it's a shame that you've been mind-fucked out of such a great ship.

Hey! I said *almost*... Also, if you'll look closely, you can see that Shinji was completely extraneous to Kaworu's plan to infiltrate Terminal Dogma. There's literally no reason for him to manipulate Shinji. If anything drew him towards Shinji it was a mix of pity and curiosity.

It's been a while since I've been mildly confused and disturbed by a yaoi. I just want to be sure, did they both die at the end of 'Happy Ending', according to the rent-boy's prophetic dreams? This level of mind-fuckery is giving me flashbacks of Evangelion...

I think Guts would display most of the deadly sins, portraying humanity in the typical Man vs. God/Fate scenario. Near beginning and the end of the Golden Age arc you see him display Lust (the first time we see him he's fucking a demon), Greed (he's always lived the life of a mercenary), Envy (he's quite clearly jealous of others' happiness), Pride (secluding himself showed not only fear, but distrust for the wretchedness of humanity) and its only in later chapters that everything Guts is is consumed by purely Wrath. I felt so heart broken by the fall of Guts, because during the previous arc you could see him moving away from these sins and scratching the surface of happiness, until Fate/God cruelly plucked it away.

Anyways, that's my two cents.
Oh ya, and I'd say I'm Greed.

Yeah, some pairings are definitely odd... I once read a fic that was L x Watari, and the worst part about it was that it was extremely well-written.... it haunts me to this day.
But then there are pairing that were obviously meant to happen, but are largely ignored, like Gutz x Griffith and Throrfinn x Canute! Many of you fangirls will never know my pain as a seinen yaoi fan.

You're right, of course. So much untapped potential in these series simply because they aren't geared towards female readers. I still lament at the lack of Berserk yaoi.
And I do agree with you for the most part, I can think of many things I'd rather do than watch the Incredible Hulk and the Thing bumping uglies, but all the androgyny in yaoi does get a little old after awhile.

Also, 'Complex' has 1 chapter of shota at the very start, which can frankly be ignored. The only reason it's there is because this series follows these two boys throughout their entire lives, across 4 volumes. I use the term epic here like it would pertain to Odysseus, long before it was used and abused by internet-dwellers until it lost all meaning.

There's actually a Yaoi called Complex, that makes me cry every time I finish it ( 3 times so far). But it's that really wonderful satisfied kind of cry, like at the end of Shawshank Redemption, seeing the human spirit torn with anguish anguish and overcoming it with relentless hope.

The dimensions and details of the drawings are all spot-on, so it's a purely stylistic choice that you're complaining about.
The simple techniques are integral to this series as well, trying to convey not only a physical, but an emotional evolution in the main character.
Going from Baki the Grappler to Holyland and then trying to compare the two is like trying compare shoving your face into a mound of cocaine and having a really good rich cup of coffee. You'll just make yourself look like a fool.
