Seemingly all his images (including selfies) were lifted from different sources. He deleted his account, ceased communication, and "went into hiding" when he realized people caught on to his ruse, before his actual identity could be determined.

Re: Newest Bad Seamless Ad Makes Bad Gentrification Joke

They're commercial signpainters (Check out Sky High Murals). I'm struggling to decide between the Manfroto and the MeFOTO. I also prefer flip locks and am interested in something as light as possible to reduce shoulder strain. It seems like such a silly thing, but I think the lack of a hook is a dealbreaker for me. Such a bizarre oversight on Manfroto's part. Honestly can't imagine why they would neglect to include one for the added stability. If I was shooting mirrorless like you I can see going without. The BeFree just doesn't seem stable enough for a 5D MkIII + 24-70 lens :/

Re: Brace Yourselves For Composting, Williamsburg

Avocado pits are compostable! There generally aren't cabs in my neighborhood, and 3 car service numbers were busy and repeated attempts couldn't get through. The 4th said a car was coming in 5, but 40 mins later it still hadn't showed up. Uber can be a good alternative in these particular circumstances (but luckily, so was the subway).

Re: Photos: The Most Spectacular Jack O'Lantern Blaze We've Ever Seen

pssst... most of these are made of foam and reused every year.

Re: The Dirty Girls of Burring Man Gallery (25 pics)

Hi. And there are a lot of professional photographers in New York, as well as a thriving tech community that are early adopters of social media platforms, apps, etc. I would imagine that those factors contribute to the phenomenon that you mention, but there are plenty of people from all over the world that are worth following. If you're ever at a loss, just go to the profile of someone whose photos you love, and check out the people that they follow.

Re: Sitting Down With of Some of the World’s Most-Followed Instagram Users

I know they were planning to do features in other cities. If the whole point of the article is to highlight visual design, it seems incongruous for the accompanied information to consist entirely of the author, title, and plot summary. I'd love to see the names of the designers, illustrators, artists, and photographers, with links to their sites! These credits are always listed on the inside back flap of a hardcover, or lower back cover of a paperback. If googling, sleuthing on Amazon, or taking a quick trip to the closest bookstore would take too much time, then I'm sure a quick call to Word would be convenient. They can simply read the names to you :)

Re: Let's not forget Superstorm Sandy

That's precisely the takeaway I was going for. They are like sardine cans, people pressed up against the windshields, in the stairwells to the doors. Every stop has a crowd of people and no way to get on. It's not that there is an aversion to buses, it's that the B62 can't handle as much as a crowded rush hour subway train.

Re: The Perks of Having a Large Instagram Following

Hey there. I was actually a photographer before Instagram was around, not a photographer "because" I am using it. It saddens me to see Gothamist editors starting out with the crumedgeon-ness. Have your hateful commenters made you jaded? Say it ain't so!

Kickstarter is full of art projects and non charity-related events looking for funding. The beauty of it is that if there's something you're not into, no need to give away your cash to it and it shouldn't affect you.

Re: My abortion

Great post, Nora. But as your older sibling, in all my infinite wisdom, feel I have the right to just one request. Here is my challenge to you: wait just 2 years. What you are choosing to do is a relatively permanent body modification*. You'll be living with it for decades, so waiting a measely 2 years shouldn't make a difference. IF, on your 20th birthday you still think it's the best idea ever, I will support your batshitcrazy piercing. If you decide not to go through with it after all, I promise not to say "I told you so".

*basically still applies in this case?
