Instead of why not Linux, how about someone answer why yes Linux.

Why would the vast majority of computer users even consider Linux? Do you sense a great dissatisfaction with Windows & MacOS?

Switching costs are high (time and brain power not $$$), so what's the benefit?

If Linux is comparable but not a serious improvement then why would people bother?

This whole thing sounds way too complicated. Sometimes there isn't a big enough market for a premium device (apple TV box) and trying to shoe-horn things in just to justify higher price doesn't work.

All I want from an Apple TV box is one that is ridiculously fast and is under $100 and has a functional remote (I am still using the white plastic remote that came with iMacs and first gen apple tvs) - not a fancy one (that no one can tell up from down). Oh, and doesn't show me a bunch of stuff I don't want (or at least give me options to customize what I see). My roku box is slow, my comcast dvr is slow, my smart tv interface is slow, etc.

Have the same maniacal focus on speed that google did (does) on loading their home page, gmail, etc. Make every app load noticeably faster than any other box on the market. Figure out a way to make signing into services easier than any other box. Figure out what Siri can do on the box and refine, refine, refine.

Tie in to other apple products (best airplay, best home sharing of videos, music, pictures, etc.)

Focus and execution. This current plan is the exact opposite.

I could be very wrong but the NFL Sunday Ticket (NFLST) just doesn't seem like a fit for Apple TV +.

NFLST made sense for DirecTV because it forced NFL junkies to add a satellite dish to their roof (big ask) and sign up for DirecTV monthly service AND pay hundreds of dollars a year on top of that to get NFLST.

Pro football (or any pro sports) doesn't mesh with the rest of Apple TV + content.

A 25-30% increase in sales SOLELY to adding legacy ports sounds wrong to me. My gut says somewhere between 0-4%.

Don't you think that it is a foregone conclusion that Apple will be releasing an Apple Silicon iMac? It's a question of when, not if.

The real question is what chip / what specs. Moving to a desktop vs the current mobile models.

Hogwash. Look at all the excitement around re-skinning iOS (I think it is a shortcuts based hack). People want to customize their devices. A Lot!

Apple is off base with this.

Unless I completely misunderstand GPS, Phones don't emit GPS signals only satellites do. Phones use the radio waves emitted from the satellites to figure out where they are.

Seems strange to not just say that they are using location data (or GPS location data if they want to get GPS in there).

definitely agree. It's not even easy to find Apple originals (the only reason to go to Apple TV app) because they are cluttering the interface with all the non original / included content.

Using Apple TV to name apps, services and hardware is/was a boneheaded decision.

The huge difference is that the iPod was competing against products that stunk. The HomePod is coming to market against products that don't stink and people like (sonos, echo, google home, etc.).

Overall, I like Siri. I find scheduling, initiating phone calls and sending texts (while driving) to be the features I use most.

My biggest gripe is when Siri just doesn't work (beeps, screen changes but my speech never gets transcribed). This only happens when I am on cellular but the problem does happen when I have 2 or more cellular bars.

Also, I am surprised at how little Siri has evolved since release (beta released 6 years ago).

I'm glad you have Taqueria San Jose on the list. I love anything with their Carnitas in it. Also, I recommend mixing red and green salsa 50/50. So good.

I find the Bulbs ad to be horrific and completely unwatchable. It seems so obvious and paint by the numbers that it hurts my head.

It also completely ridiculous to compare the Touch Bar to the great inventions of history.

As much as I don't like the ad, I LOVE the Touch Bar. I spent 5 minutes in the store and was completely wow'ed with how great it is.

The Touch Bar seems like a complete afterthought (let's show it for 2 seconds at the end of the ad).

Big miss.

I just don't see it. People still like their computers. The people I see who are fine with using an iPad as their primary computing device are kids and older, non-computery folks.

I see a lot of people who have iPads that aren't used much.

iOS is fine for phone but it is so far away from MacOS with mouse and keyboard input.

Apple getting into the business of selling cars is totally ridiculous. AAPL is a large part of my portfolio so I hope they don't get into business of manufacturing / selling cars. Please Apple, don't do it.

I like the NY Times but stopped reading anything they write about Apple. The NY Times really does seem to have an axe to grind with Apple.
