It really is amazing that anyone is still buying this crap. The economy was destroyed by Ronnie's failed trickle down economics. He and his billionaire cronies started sucking the life out of the middle class and the other republicans have kept it up. Republicans increase spending, cut taxes and then cry about the deficit they created and look for somebody to blame it on.

Didn't I see her singing "I like to be in America" in West Side Story? Wasn't she one of the Sharks?

But on a more serious note, rolldown, I don't disagree with your conclusion but the courts have always been just as politicized as they are today. Check the history. The remarkable thing is that every once in a while they get something right in spite of that politicization. That of course excludes the current do-nothing court of John Roberts.

I was totally disgusted by this kind of campaigning and I have written to the Dole Campaign to let them know. This is the first time I have ever donated to a political candidate outside of my home state but felt compelled to by the circumstances. We don''t get a lot of news about NC politics here in Oklahoma, but I had always had a positive perception about Sen. Dole. Well, that has changed and I hope there are many more like me who are willing to put their money where there mouth is. I don't care what party she belongs to, there should be no place in government for someone who would stoop to this kind of tactic. Good luck.

I'm not sure why speedy keeps quoting Deuteronomy 5 about stealing. The authority to tax its citizens is and always has been a legitimate exercise of government. And unless you are doing it dishonestly, like Zacheus, it is never condemned in the scriptures. I will admit that sometimes it feels like someone is stealing from us. But to continue to suggest that the government has become a latter day Robin Hood stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, is coming very close to bearing false witness against your neighbor (Deuteronomy 5:20).

Very good analysis of the essence of executive ability. Unfortunately, your identification of the one place where Ms. Palin might claim some of experience as mayor of a small town, demonstrates a lack of understanding about how small towns operate. The picture of a mayor that you describe is not the way most small towns, including Wasilla, operate. In towns like Wasilla with a mayor/town council administration, the mayor's primary responsibility is to preside at city council meetings, vote in case of a tie, and act as ceremonial head of the town as needed on appropriate occasions. This doesn't really change your conclusions, it just says that she actually is even less qualified than you gave her credit for. Personally, I am appalled at such a blatant attempt at political opportunism. I had always give John McCain credit for integrity. My bad.
