Our startup is in this space and I often think it's foolish to have a million sentiment providers. Snap up the best tech in each vertical and call it "Powered by Twitter Insights". Brilliant.

Re: Why Do Apple iOS Mail and Calendar Apps Suck?

I'll just leave this here for your Saturday morning chuckles. https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Re: Introducing Quackpad – simple collaborative docs for teams using Slack

Ahh makes sense! We do this with Google Docs, but we're a small team. I can see how permission setting thousands of members would be a nightmare. Maybe there's something the tech industry can do to turn the ship around, so to speak, on tech reporting?
http://news.ycombinator.com...

Re: You can do it alone

You had your wife in both startups, and I don't mean she had your back, she ran the companies as a defacto founder. To quote her own blog... " I left publishing to start a business with my husband. We sold that company and we now run an online training company called Treehouse"

This is a little disingenuous. I guarantee if you didn't have Gillian this would be a different blog post.

Re: The Power of a Deadline

Dude, you are awesome! I think a lot of VCs use the "crack our network" as a test of the entrepreneur and his/her ability to hustle. I find that thinking antiquated and perhaps there's room for OATV to revise their methodology in that light. I would never stroll into YC Demo day and bemoan the sad state of early stage valuation and at the same time know I'm doing nothing new to find and source deals. (hint: that's you) Try a YC data driven / application method and see where it gets you.... be the change you are looking for in the world Bryce. I would love to have scored a pitch meeting with OATV but guys like me can't be bothered to network all day just for the privilege of maybe meeting someone in your network to maybe score a meeting to maybe get another meeting to maybe get funding. No thanks, I'll tap my friends of friends network and build on shoestring budget, mind you it could have been faster and better with the help of pro VCs like you but the world is moving too fast to operate in the old VC way and eschew the fast YC method. That prospect should scare the shit out you because it's guys like me that come out of nowhere and change the world. Your job is to find me.

Re: Startups, Fix Your Blog Links

Great post. Super useful to me as well.

Do you think it would be useful to have an app/site that used NLP to process mass opinions and feelings into a similar condensed newsfeed format? Imagine you could scan a similar list summarizing what people were angry about --> #SOPA, what people were scared about --> #Iran-closing-straits-of-hormuz or even East Coasters are happy about the Patriots in the Super Bowl. Those are just some fairly obvious examples but you can see where I'm going.

Re: Infoboom: Sentiment Analysis and the GOP Campaign: Takeaways for SMBs

Very interesting article!
