There is nothing inherently wrong with either approach but in our authoritarian worshiping world the expert opinion prevails at the expense of common sense fixes.

We need both ways of problem solving and when we reduce the discussion to mutual name calling we self-destruct. Trump and anarchists breed in this environment and intellectuals hide while rednecks fume.

Re: Saturation Media Coverage of the Paris Terrorist Attacks Is Unhelpful: Newsroom: The Independent Institute

It is unfashionable to try and understand the "beasts" who kill us. But the fact is the beasts were angry about blasphemy and until very recently France had laws forbidding blasphemy. I wonder how we feel if Christ or Moses was pilloried by cartoonists at Al Jeera?

Re: Mental illness and gun violence are a doctor’s responsibility

My opinion is worthless, my life is worthless, my family is invisible, and I don't have a gun. If I can't legally buy a gun I know that my insignificance
will not even be recorded. The ability to have the right to defend yourself is not something any animal would give up unless it knew it was living in a safe place. This place, this America is not safe. I need to know that if I have to I will be able to use the same technology to defend myself that the enemy has to hurt me. Anything less is dangerous and abnormal.

The right to own a gun has been protected in this country for a long time. We should not change the gun laws unless we are willing to change the first and tenth amendments. These rights are cohesive. They do not exist in abstraction and each right needs the other to fully blossom. We should allstep back from doing something for 20 dead kids that may have noxious unintended results all of us.

Re: McCain calls Harley 'sound of freedom' // CNN Tees // Browse, Search and Discuss Video Headline Shirts

I don't feel very free when I the bastards wake me up at 2 AM with loud pipes.

McCain is an old man who needs to pander to special interest groups with throw away comments.
