Can you confirm that the S3 object is guaranteed to be available at the time that the Lambda is invoked?

Re: Creating a good lyric video for less than $10

Chris-- unfortunately no, it was all footage I had to license for the video so I definitely blew past the $10 budget. I haven't had much luck finding sites with free, high quality footage for my projects. Would be interested if anybody has uncovered some?

Re: Creating a good lyric video for less than $10

Chris, thanks for the article, definitely got me inspired to finally start creating lyric videos for my music. I ended up tapping my After Effects skills and finding some great imagery on stock video sites. I'm proud of how this one for my song "Light a Torch" turned out.

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Re: http://lumaarcade.gamestudiosites.com/2012/02/welcome-to-the-new-site-everyone-

Excellent new site!

Re: http://travisj.github.com/2010/02/25/0-jquery-live-vs-bind.html

As I understand it, the live() method really shines when you get into cases where you are going to be handling the event on a number of objects. Since live() uses event delegation as opposed to bind()'s per object handling, the overhead of using live() is better than the overhead of many separate event handlers for each specific target.

I know the performance of bind() was improved with 1.4.2 but supposedly live() was given some attention with the 1.4 code branch as well.

I think the most telling information I've seen is this: http://www.ravelrumba.com/b...

Re: http://travisj.github.com/2010/02/20/hello-world.html

I too have really only scratched the surface of what I feel can be achieved with these tools. I haven't yet messed around with Compass and creating sprites, not sure if it handles any management of images in that manner?

I'm basically using Compass project right now to handle my SASS compiling.

Update: Just saw your other post and it looks like you figured something out! Awesome and thanks for sharing.

Re: http://travisj.github.com/2010/02/20/hello-world.html

I've been using SASS and Compass as well for some new projects. I've been wishing for something like SASS for stylesheets forever. So powerful!

Re: Screenshot: Tue, 12 May 2009

This looks great Tim! This is definitely a different method than I have always used. I'm going to try it out next time I have Photoshop open!

Re: Why I am liking Capcom

I, too, am not a big fan of the crazy graphic intensive games that are flooding the market. When it comes to a game like a car simulation or even a sports game, ultra-realistic graphics can add to the fun, but if the driving mechanic or the opposing team's AI sucks, then why should I even bother.

I get really excited seeing all of these re-makes of awesome side-scrollers. When the Bionic Command (ReArmed) game was announced I couldn't wait to check it out. I'm sure it'll be great fun!

Your comment about cutscenes really struck a chord with me, as well. My best example of this is Metal Gear Solid 3. I couldn't wait to play that game, but it took me almost 2 years to dredge through the first few hours of the game cause I was so turned off by the cutscenes. This is primarily the reason why I haven't even bothered with the latest installation (MGS4). If I wanted to watch a movie then I would do just that; when I'm holding a game controller I want to be playing a game...

As far as cool 2D side-scrollers go, be sure to check out Contra: Shattered Soldier for PS2 or Contra 4 for DS. They are great games and hold true to the original Contra gameplay with lots of pretty explosions and trademarked hellish difficulty.

Re: 2 Free WordPress Themes Coming Soon

Awesome! Yahoo In A Sickening Slide

While it may be true that Yahoo! has been suffering an identity crisis for a long time, they still remain a top destination for a wide demographic of Internet surfers.

http://www.alexa.com/data/d...
http://siteanalytics.compet...

And yes, I know it's not all about Alexa (#1) or Compete.com (131.8M visitors in May '08) ratings, but they have so much clout, I hope they can harness that energy and hit the nail on the head with some upcoming products, cause they definitely get the eyeballs when they release them.

Your comments about delicious and Flickr are spot on, those are the cream of the crop when it comes to social bookmarking and photos. As with any web service in which I invest a large portion of my time, I hope they stick around forever so I don't lose all the work I've put in to date.

My personal opinion about Yahoo! games is that they have the upper hand from others in that less accustomed Internet users might feel a little more trust when Yahoo! is downloading (or caching) something onto their machine versus a site of which they've never heard. Also, with so much traffic to the Yahoo.com home page, the sheer number of people who might happen to click on that "Games" link provides a huge advantage!

Re: Spore Is Awesome, But You Already Knew That

That looks like a lot of fun.
