That said, the way it happens will never be a chronological reading of updates/recommendations - it'll be based on relevance, authority, etc - and this isn't even close.

So, totally agree, but I see this is a gimmick play - not a step toward relevant recommendations. At the same time, it has us talking about them, doesn't it...

Re: Toronto might have influencers, but they don’t want to fly Virgin

Great post and something I was keeping my eye on. Without having seen any of their demographic or market data, it struck me that the majority of people who were drawn to participate weren't representative of the target group likely to make use of that service. It's great that on the west coast they can take Kevin Rose and others up to broadcast their experience live through free wifi, etc, and see the subsequent uptake of the service - however - travel is totally different out of Toronto.

It may be that the service wasn't viable at all to begin with (out of Toronto). Even so, it was my impression they didn't do enough to engage a more targeted audience.

Re: http://blog.seanmcdonald.ca/post/816783008

Kind of like telling a bartender, after having just finished pouring you a pint of beer, that there's no beer in your glass. Except, that might be funny and not destroy whole ecosystems. The later being the only significant difference between the two circumstances

Re: http://blog.seanmcdonald.ca/post/722207581

pure patience Leona... Apple isn't competing in advertising everywhere (or search, yet), they are focusing on mobile (true to their positioning as a mobile business) and helping to monetize apps to the benifit of developers and consumers to keep prices in check. They are putting an advantageous stake in the ground where Google has only loose footing. So, apples to apples within a domain where they both contend and within the field where traffic is rapidly shifting (and Apple is dominating).

Re: http://seanmcdonald.ca/post/438915539

Good luck with that Greg, check the development requirements... if you make it, I'll take your notes...

Re: Hootsuite iPhone App Review

you tried Tweetie 2? far and away my favourite, but I haven't tried Hootsuite yet.

Re: Getting a Tiger out of the Woods

Hey Mark - the sentiment was produced by our research tool, Sysomos Map.
