Unless this reboot is major (like a new cast, new directors, new producers, new set designers, new car, et al) this show needs to be canceled. Heck, it should've been still born. It in no way holds the spirit of the original show. Nor does it really seem to be its own show. Heres for cancellation.

Growing up on the original Knight Rider, it's a pleasure to see the series make a TV reappearance in my life time. Great. However I personally would love to see more correlation and familiarity to the old show, while I love some of the improvements obviously because technology along with many things has changed (grown drastically). My grievance isn't with the new KITT or the upgrade to \"FLAG's\" base of operations but rather with the lack of depth and mystery surrounding the individual characters themselves; i.e Billy's relationship with Zoe either hook them or get rid of the implied sexual tension between them(Although I see no use for the Zoe character).While I understand the old lovers relationship between Sarah and Mike,enough already we get it they were boyfriend and girlfriend in a past life this is a new life they are supposed to be professionals so move-on nothing to see here, the reference to her father's love affair with the visitor in the last episode this go around was ridiculous, where did it come from? Completely unnecessary why couldn't the woman come in as a jealous bureaucrat with an axe to grind? Maybe she is or does but their alleged affair has no relevance.
Where's the \"Hoff\", he should have made 3 cameo appearances by now, if for nothing else but continuity, where's the strained relationship between father and son? The new Micheal Knight should be going to his dad for advice on issues like dealing with having a new name, life and mission even if he he hates for whatever reason, simply because he went through it before, that's just one example of how the David Hasselehoff could be used to make the show more grounded in reality as well as connecting the past, present and feature if not for us old guys but for the new target audience so they know where the show came from and where it's headed a few references to the other old characters (Devon, Bonnie, even RC) would help and would be a nice incentive for the those with knowledge of the old series.
While the support characters are a good idea to keep people working seeing too much of them changes the original premise of \"Knight Rider\", they being so visible takes up valuable time to allow the new Micheal and KITT to develop that special bond between them, the show is supposed to be about the basic connection a man forms with a car that he loves as much as it is about the technological improvements, developments we've made and the concepts and research we hope to implement in the feature.
Even the FBI agent character as a permanent cast member is too much for me there's no reason for a law enforcement agency to be part of the KITT team. FLAG while not being above the law is supposed to transcend it, going further than the law can no concepts of jurisdiction or lack thereof bring down the corrupt with deep pockets and powerful friends. The relationship and cooperation with law enforcement should be more visible than that of the old show but I think they a are all too cozy right now, that is think leaves the door open for betrayal and dishonesty to take hold.
What is the secret Alex Torres is keeping from Mike? \"Mike\"! Why are the writers calling him Mike anyway? I get that the writers are young and trying to be hip but it does not compute, the name \"Micheal Knight\" is as important a part of the show as KITT is, shortening it to \"Mike\" isn't a good fit, in fact its kind of annoying. Please stick to Micheal.
i dont love the show and i dont hate it. so heres my 2 cents. first mistake was Mike doesnt remember his past. what? second mistake was no Hoff. third and biggest mistake was Kitt transforms. If you ask me the majority of those who want the show cancelled are those who used to watch the original back in the stone age and dont like how the show has been modernized. Personally i love this show alot and although i did not watch the original im sure i wouldn't have liked it anyway. The only thing i dont like about KR is the fact that there is not enough action. There is more talking then action and that kinda kills the interest in the show for me. Im hoping that this reboot works out for them and extends the life of the new kitt. On the other hand i don't want the new KR to be to much like the old one, because i would probably lose interest.
Give this one a chance. IN anything that is new or returning, some things do and don't work out. Work it out and do not give up too soon. Yes you say the show is not canceling however some one feels differently otherwise posts to blogs would not exist of cancellation. Please keep KR going. It seemed to be doing well in my eyes. If for some reason the show does cancel, please sell the Mustangs on e-bay so I can buy them and restart the show myself on you tube.

NBC may be going through a finacial crisis but dont stunt this continuation short before it even has a chance to flurish as its own identity as a follow on just like say Star Trek TNG did in 1987...
The concept for knightrider 2008 is sound as a 25 year follow on. and the reflection in clips i have seen and snippets is true to the hasslehoff days in the 80's and a few tie ins between the two eras on occasion will solidify this show and bring it into its own.

NBC/Universal is good at remaking old shows for the better. If they can take a cheesy show that had little depth and originality like the original Battlestar Galactica and turn it into a really good remake, then I think they are doing a great job at continuing a successful show like Knight Rider and making what was great even better. I do agree that the show has gotten off to a rocky start (the pilot movie being not much more than a 2 hr long Ford commercial),but every show seems to go through this. They will work things out to improve the show to appease the fan base I'm sure. Lets give it a chance and make sure NBC keeps a potentially great show on the air. I do however, hope they don't get any bright ideas to remake The A-Team, that would be just wrong!
I grew up on 80's KnightRider show and in Portugal this new 2008 season wasn't even showned on Tv. But, for what I've seen here and on youtube, this new season doesn't have the FELLING that the 80's series had!!!
For me, that's the price of getting a crew of actors that don't have the smallest WILL to do a RESPECTABLE remake of a great and ETERNAL show like KNIGHTRIDER!!

Another UK viewer - we're dying to see it over here. Some people *cough cough* may have seen the pilot and episodes 1-9 and think it's GREAT! And I'm old enough to have seen the original too and loved that also. Different time, different show and I think it works in the main - few silly things but nothing major. If it had tried to hard to copy the original it would have looked dated. And as much as I liked the old Michael (Hoff) to stick him back in in cameos would look desperate - it was the worst part of the pilot. This has to make it to these shores and it has to go into Season 2.
I think this \"new knight rider\" is good and bad. It has potential but just because you have a great special effects department doesn't mean that you should use it to make transforming cars. If I wanted to watch Transformers I would watch the movie or the old cartoons! I think the show needs continuity from the old Knight Rider of the 80's. If you are going to use the name you had better reference its past just like Star Trek: TNG did in the 90's by referencing the old Enterprise and its crew. KR is no different. I think they could have kept the Hoff in this show by putting him in a Devon role. Since the Hoff had experience with KITT in the past and with the Foundation.
What this show really needs is excellent writers to tell good stories not the special effects to do it. Does the show need action? Yes. What does it need? It needs to be done right in both terms of writing, special effects, and acting! Am I opposed to special effects? No, but a transforming car to me is very, very lame! Either do this show right or cancel it!

as a 30 something who grew up watching the Original series and now the new series, i can honestly say i like the modern version. K.I.T.T. from the 80
s was well an 80's car with 80's technology. The new K.I.T.T. is just keeping up with the times. So it's a bit cheesy but the show is heading in the right direction with the reinstatement of F.L.A.G. Now after FLAG returns we can get away from the crazy plots and the wacked out scenarios and focus on simple plots with lots of action and more KITT. Bring KARR back later in the series and possibly bring HOFF as a special adviser to FLAG. Season 2?.... Please bring it on
I just wanted to say that I love this show. Wednesday night is the night that my 13 year old daughter and I actually watch the same show on tv. She loves it and so do I. I remember when I was younger, my family always watched tv together. There is just not enought shows on tv that kids and parents are into. I just really hope the show continues.
As a big fan of the 80's knight rider I have to say that I was a little dissapointed with the show at first. Some technology of the new K.I.T.T is just not believeable. This reboot that they are in process of doing should be a huge improvement for the show. I am already excited about some of the main characters departing the show, they werent needed.
I do think they need to get back to basics and bring the hoff back. It seems to me that the storylines are just too weak and theres no depth. Since prison break has been cancelled maybe they should bring some of those writers on board to get that depth. there needs to be a continuous storyline, something to make you barely be able to wait till next week to see.
Anyways I really hope that knight rider can hold on for at least one more season. This show barely got the chance it deserves. And like many others this is the ONLY show I watch on nbc, theres nothing else even close on nbc to keep my interest. Hopefully I wont have to be going another 5 years waiting for this pathetic network to air something I would like.
I loved the 80,s Night Rider TV series and I am a fan of the new Night Rider TV series I would like to see more references to the orginal TV series as it is important to show the connection between the original and new TV series. KITT needs feel more human and real And no more transformations as it makes for a less believable show. This reboot needs to be based more on the formula that made the orginal such a hit in the 80's. Also I believe going back to using the orginal music in the opening and closing credits with a combination of pictures from the orginal series and the new tv series would give the tv viewers who have seen the orginal tv series an immediate connection to new tv series an also help introduce newer viewers who haven't seen the orginal tv series too the complete knight rider store. If this can be done I beleive the New Knight Rider Tv series will continue for a few more seasons.
Sorry, GST. Your show is a shallow, poorly-written, poorly-excuted pale imitation of the original. Bad special effects, terrible acting, and zero character development are certainly in line with your cheesy t-shirt (see above). Hand this over to a proper producer or turn in the keys.

With all due respect to all HOFF fans out there, I concur.
Honestly, I feel like the first Knight character was too much in love with his own ego. And the first KITT was not much believable.
Especially when I found out the Trans-Am can only run so much. And worsened(is that a word ?) when I entered engineering uni... :(
But the new Knight(an ex-Army Ranger) and KITT(a Cobra), are something else. From the fighting coreography(which moves are believeable to bring some practical hurt if done in real life), to the science aspect of the science-fiction(which for me at least, with the current advancement in technology, pretty much plausible), to the plot(which just not revolving around 'the badguy/girl(s)' of the week).
So please don't cancel the show.
It's THAT good, it's able to turn a 'fallen' fans like me back into the fold. :)
The show started off horribly and full of holes, TKR was a stronger show than this when it started. BUT, since the reboot the show has gotten a lot better. There are still problems that need to be addressed though. The show needs tightening up, lock down your science to a set of rules that we can count on, get deeper into the AI, why was the original KITT so much more human than this one? If it's a matter of training get deeper into KITT's learning or developing of attachments and emotions. It's an action show which has improved in terms of action set pieces and stunts. I thought the battle with KARR was awesome for all the 30 seconds of it, and that's one of the problems! it's also a SCIFI show and you need to punch those buttons better to snag your audience. The season finale should have someone building a new KARR (and with Peter Cullen's voice again, freaking cool).
I for one grew up watching the old KR and have season 1 and 2 on dvd, the new episodes of kr took some getting used to but u have to take it in stride, I am just thankful that it was brought back as a black talking car with a front scanner and one person driving. plus technology changes and as such so do the times but the core value of the shows stays the same. As Wilton knight says one man can make a difference. I love the way attack mode looks as well as the f150 truck. Now for me to bitch, they need a mobile command unit like the semi and they should have never brought back KARR. He was cool and it was cool they had Peter Cullens voice again as the new Karr, but if this is a continuation KARR is dead, and oh ya the chainguns from KITT in fly by knight was steller.
So happy to hear that we will only be subjected to 2 more episodes of this poor excuse for the Knight Rider franchise. GST has zero imagination and even less ability to develop interesting stories or characters.
The whole transforming to a 4x4 was bad enough, but now it transforms to a vintage Mustang too? Hey, GST, Ford called and they want you to transform the car into a Model T as well.
If this show had a better producer, you wouldn't need a write-in campaign to try and save it.
One big improvement the writers could make to this show is to create an overarching story line that keeps viewers hooked from week to week.
I was watching episodes of the old KR on DVD a while back, and although I enjoyed them, one thing that struck me is that television writing has gotten a lot more sophisticated in the last 20 years. Shows like the original KR, The A-Team, Airwolf, etc. were purely episodic. Each episode had its own self-contained plot. This made it easy for new viewers to start watching, but did little to keep pulling viewers back in week after week.
Successful shows such as Lost, Heroes, Chuck, Reaper, Battlestar Galactica, and even older shows like Alias or The X-Files all have one thing in common: A series-spanning (or at least, season-spanning) story arc. While each episode has its own sub-plot, there's also a bigger story being told. And THAT's what keeps people hooked, and causes word-of-mouth to spread. Not to mention the potential revenue from DVD sales when new viewers want to catch up from the beginning.
The recent KR reboot has been a definite improvement, but a few more throw-backs to the old series would be nice. You'd have a built-in audience of nostalgic TiVo-owning 30-somethings who would love to share this show with their kids.
Some of the other suggestions in this thread aren't bad. Some father-son character development with David Hasselhoff could add a nice dramatic touch. And his presence on the show might give the new F.L.A.G. a little more credibility now that Charles Graiman is dead and the FBI is out of the picture. (I can't quite bring myself to believe that a quartet of horny college kids could effectively run their own high-tech law-enforcement agency without some kind of adult supervision.)
Some more suggestions:
- Ease up on the \"horny idiot\" aspects of the Billy character. Paul Campbell is a decent actor (I remember him from Battlestar) but you wouldn't know it from the dialog he's given on this show.
- Suspension of disbelief only works when the rules of the fictional world are firmly established. I was never fond of the whole \"transforming\" gimmick (and I liked it even less when KARR transformed into a giant robot), but I guess it's an established part of the show now so I'm willing to accept it. But there should be limits to what KITT can transform into. The worst episodes of the old series were the ones that went over the top in the believability department: (KITT driving on water, the little hovering droid disguised as a soccer ball, Michael \"sensing\" the presence of KITT's CPU in a nearby trash bin... Just plain ridiculous).
- How about a new mobile command center (\"the semi\"), so KITT can occasionally get some maintenance and upgrades without having to drive all the way back to the SSC. The semi was one of the most memorable aspects of the old show.
- I'm a fan of hot girls in sexy clothes as much as the next guy, but does it make sense that Sarah is always dressed like she's going clubbing? Deanna Russo doesn't need skimpy outfits and tons of make-up to look hot. And if she's the new head of the foundation, I'd expect her to dress a little more professionally at the office.
- What happened to the old KITT? The pilot showed him in pieces in Graiman's garage, but it would be interesting to learn how that came to be. When was he decommissioned and why? And what does old-Michael (the Hoff) think of the new KITT?
You've got a great property in Knight Rider, and it would be a real shame to see it get canceled after only one season. Add some maturity to the characters, some ongoing story arcs to keep the viewers interested, and throw in some more connections to the original series to appease the legions of nostalgic fans, and I think you'd have a hit again.
I loved the original and I am loving this new version, Listen up people its been 20 years technology has advanced deal with it.
Its getting more and more into the spirit of what the old series was like but people are going too far in comparing the new to the old which isnt right.
If they did make it just like the 80's people would still complain that they are ripping the classics off wtf.
Get a life, turn your brain off and enjoy some entertainment.
I actually enjoy watching the new KR. I think that it is pretty cool to be able to still have some features of the the shows.
I agree with some of the people here though, there has to be a semi. Traveling back and forth across the country and no where to park the car at time and tune it up, is kinda strange. Atleast with the old shows KITT could drive right up to the truck and roll right it.
Now the one that I do like is that you transform that car into a truck. There was the one episode where you incognito, and transformed the car into the old muscle car mustang, that was awesome.
I really enjoy watching the show every Thursday on my computer when I come home.
Keep it up I think the show is doing really well.
Oh, there is one more thing, Try and make an episode where they can turn all the Power back on at the SSC and be able to use the robots more too.
As a fan of the original show, I was somewhat worried about the new show with a Mustang. I love the show and hope there will be a second season and beyond. The show is better now without the FBI involvement. I would however like to see less of the guns in KITT. I always wanted a Trans Am, even before Knight Rider, but this show has shown me the Mustang in all its glory, and they are available in the UK.
The characters are great, but I agree that KITT needs a mobile workshop to allow the show to go more across country. It would also be nice to see the Hoff in a few episodes. An idea for a future show could involve the original KITT teaming up with the new. After all we did see several Trans Ams in the pilot, so there are always possibilities.
The KARR subplot was good until we had the transformer robot. That spoilt it. Good to have the original voice though.
I love night rider and so do all my friends. Please don't cancel it. So many shows now are the \"Soapie\" style with deep serious depressing stuff. Knight rider new series is full of fun and excitement and chemistry and fantasy. Its a refreshing change from the usual shows that keep running for years. We like light fun shows. Life is serious and depresing enough. We need shows like Knight Rider to cheer us up. Light humor goes a long way. I've shown all my friends parts of the new episodes and they are all keen to watch. The guys think Sarah is hot and the girls including me think Mike is very very hot. I also like that the FBI are out of the picture. Please don't cancel. More knight rider for all of us
I love the new knight rider. My friends here in Australia saw the Pilot and loved it. They want to see more. the idea of the sexual tension between Zoe and Billy is hilarious. And the sexual tension between Mike and Sarah is hot. There's nothing wrong with them rekindling their old relationship. He loves her and she loves him. That's the way we want it. It's nice that they stay true to each other. Love everything about the new series. We in Australia are excited about the new season and want it to continue.

This is a good show that has potential to be greater! Less boobs, more story! KITT also needs to get super-pursuit mode back, and do more turbo boosts. Shape-shifting is all very well, but back in the Hoff's day no crime couldnt be solved by driving fast and jumping over things.
As a child of the 80's I loved the original Knight Rider. As an adult, I really like the new show. The 80's show appears old now (like watching Batman and Robin wearing tights). Too many people are criticising the show for being too far from the original but we are in a new age now and Trans-Ams are old and CGI is new. Seeing the Hoff with his mullet, denim jeans and cowboy boots was fine at the time but this show needs to be here and now and in my opinion, it is. We don't get this show in the UK so I've downloaded every episode and watched them. I am impressed. A show in the 80's directed towards young teens is now a new show in it's own right and directed at kids and adults alike. I love the new show, I love the CGI (no more ramps behind bushes :-) ). Only one criticism and that is give us more action, more jumps, more speed, some ski mode maybe. James Bond made corkscrew jumps in the 70's, give us some of that stuff too like the bridge jump a couple of episodes back, excellent stuff. Keep up the good work and keep it on air.
A second season pickup would be great, so would assigning a creative producer and writing team that actually knows how to write.
I mean COMMON, you buildup the the KARR story arc only to resolve it in a battle lasting all of 15 seconds. Do you all remember the battles in the original series. It took a lot out of Michael and out of Kitt. It was drawn out for a reason.
And perhaps, gee I don't know, stop making sexual references every 20.5 seconds. We get it!!!! Seriously we all get it. We got it the first 200 times. Perhaps but a little more work into writing stories and a little less into that for starters.
Huge fan here but seriously, new writer needed because if you can't agree that this show could be so much more than it is, then that is just sad guys.

The new KITT, the new Michael, the new crystal ball voice box of KITT took some getting used to in this series, but now I can't get enough. I haven't missed one episode all season long. TO NBC - Please leave Knight Rider on the air. Let it ride one more season to see if the reboot works for people.
The car is Awesome!!! Val Kilmer as the voice of KITT, what could be cooler?!!!! Even though the nano-skin and transformations are unrealistic, the transformers movie was very popular and proves people dig the futuristic approach. It's not supposed to be deep, or replicate every detail of the original- it's just supposed to be fun, action-packed and awesome... which it is!!! I hope it keeps going strong.
More mystery, more action, I can dig it. Zoe, not my favorite character- it's the writing though, not the actress. Hasselhoff's return would be great, unfortunately it would be lost on younger viewers, the primary audience for this show.

I watched the Knight Rider episodes a few days ago and i LOVED them.
I know i watched them so late after the season finale but i still loved it. and if this interview didn't take place so long ago i would believe that Knight Rider isn't being canceled, Which i would HATE but i still think it might be...
I really want this show to continue and it would help if someone could update me on the current situation of Knight Rider...
Please Do Not Cancel This Show, it was just getting good. Mike needs to go out on assignments just like in the old knight rider for the FLAG team, Val Kilmer is great for the voice and has a great sense of humor between Mike and himself. I absolutely love the new show. I am a fan of the old show and I was WAITING for a new incarnation. I love the things that others hate. I love the transformation thing. I guarantee that if they would have had the computer graphics in the 80's that we have now that the original KITT would have transformed. Look at super pursuit mode. Need I say more. I love, love, love this show and I am so glad that this great show is not cancelled.
What they should do is cut the bull and, and hide the mystery, and go mobile on the road, ditched the massive building get a mobile semi unit and and quote KITT (2008) is an updated version and make and have him finding trouble, c'mon think about a run in with the original Knight Industries, and and have cameos, like Hasslehoff, McPhereson, and FOR CRYING OUT LOUD do some real jumps cut the CG that'll cut cost. who'd love to see a 100MPH Turboboost without CG? Anyone?
I really enjoy this show. It's entertaining. It's supposed to be impossible. I'm glad they're outside the system now because I always thought of FLAG as a watch dog agency. Governments have agenda's so how was FLAG working with them? That aside, it was still an hour of entertainment instead of the realty TV crap that's cheap to produce and painful to watch. Please don't cancel this show.
I think this is one of the best shows out in a long time. I really like the connection and bond that is growing between Mike and Kitt, keep it up. I really wish that Charles was not killed off. I think he could have offered a lot to the show still. maybe he parachuted down somewhere and was lost or had amnesia? possible? cant wait for season one on DVD.

As a uk fan of the old KNIGHTRIDER i think the new KNIGHTRIDER show is excellent, absolute genius, not missed an episode yet, it would be a great shame to cancel the show after just one series. I do think that DAVID HASSLEHOFF could do a few more cameos and maybe bring back bonnie and RC for one show. The producers and writers have done a fantastic job bringing the show up to date from the 80s knightrider and I for one would be gutted if the show gets cancelled. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep up the good work.
Is Knight Rider cancelled? I hope not. I love the show. I loved the 80s original... but the new show is briliant! It's up-to-date, the stories are great, Deanna Russo is HOT and KITT is amazing. The new Michael Knight is also pretty cool! I'm like a big kid at Christmas and I hope one of the networks picks it up for a second season... my wife and I are moving from the UK to the US in a few weeks... I'm trying to persuade her to let me buy a black mustang! Please bring the show back!!!
As a devoted UK Knight Rider fan I think the new series of Knight Rider is fantastic. Despite what people have said about episodes not being quite as good as the original and doing a reboot, I have liked every one so far. I wish NBC would not cut costs on such a good series. I hope that there is a second season as everything about it has grown on me. It is like when I was a kid again watching the original all over again. It gives me the same buzz as it did then. Well done to everyone involved. Keep Knight Rider alive and roll on season 2! I can\u2019t wait!!!

I am 31 years old and never missed an episiode of the original in the 80's. I absolutley love this new show and still never miss an episode. (in UK so we still have season 1 running). I hope they continue to make many more seasons. My only complaint is the transforming thing. Other than that, great, long live knight rider!!

Hi i am a old knight rider fan. I have seen every episode. I also hacve seen the ne knight rider and love it just the same,Especially now that the bond between michael and kitt is growing. I do not think you should cancell the show. I am curios to see how the far the bond between michale and kitt can go. Knight rider rocks, I actually prefer the new series but that just because I'm was really young when the old series was on and never got to watch it. I think the new series is more believable. Also love the relationship between KITT and Mike (Mike is HOTT!) and also Sarah and Mike.
