This show is just awfull ,why after 26 years can they not get right the original soul and feeling from the original

get Glen Larson to write the thing ,get David Hasslhoff to star in it ,a black 1980s trans am (or at least somthing that doesnt have the aerodynamics of a building brick ,and get william daniels into a sound booth
The new series has no storylines ,no car worth watching is all just a lazy attempt to advertise FORD and make money

i have to say that the reason they didnt remake knight rider is the fact that people would still complain that it wasnt as good as orignal,so they decided not to do a remake, i hated the poilt movie,but the epsidoes are good

Personally, I agree with Michael Harrington that the new Knight Rider IS good, precisely because it isn't a rehash of the original.
AND I also happen to LIKE the idea of making KARR something other than an identical-copy/evil-twin of KITT, so I'm very much looking forward to seeing this episode.
Finally, while I do like the 'Stang, I agree with tony that it was not a great choice for KITT. In my opinion, the new Camaro would have been a much better pick for KITT.
Incidentally, steve: Glen Larson DID write the thing - He's one of the guys who wrote the screenplay for the movie, as well as Executive Producer for the series.
And technically, the Hoff DID star in the movie, as Michael Knight.
Personally, my sole grievance with the series is that there're a couple of things I don't like about KITT's Attack Mode, but considering how the original KITT's Super Pursuit Mode looked, it ain't that bad.
I was a fan of the original - though I have to say watching it again on DVD really made me wonder why. I guess that's the difference in taste between a 10 year old and a 30 year old. Anyway...
IMHO, the pilot was superior in every way to this trainwreck of a series. I remember reading something written by the guy who took over to start the series following the pilot that said essentially that they were going to improve on KITT, especially the attack mode KITT. I thought the attack mode in the pilot was a bit over the top but man... that POS in the series is so awful that it would have been laughed out of SEMA. This series is more like a bad combination of the original Knight Rider and power rangers. Throw in a few Star Trek Enterprise decontamination rub down scenes and you have this turd of a series.
There was so much potential for this series to be reimagined in a good way like Battlestar Galactica. I think the pilot tried hard for that and succeeded in some ways. They flat out blew it when the show went from pilot to series. But it looks like the show will suffer on for another half season.

This show is ridiculous. It's not Knight Rider at all, it's more like Power Rangers Meets Battlestar Galactica. They might just as well add a telepathic Mini Cooper for comedy relief.
The show does need work. The plots are too much too soon. This is a reminder of TKR, what with an incredible amount of support personnel. The original series had it right, and used a small amount of people, and they called in the original team to do major repairs. It was a privately funded venture, and if one read between the script lines, we only saw the cases where all the stops were pulled out and drastic measures were taken. More than once, Michael stumbled into something, and pursued it without Devon's blessing. With this new Government Oversight Committee in the cave, if something popped up out of nowhere on Mike's day off, do you think for one second that these guys are going to let him pursue it? On Government Dollars, no less?
Give us some reality here, writers. I know that if you look to your fans, there are some out there that have some damn good ideas.
I can get by the flipping panels, I can deal with a pretty girl that has a penchant for danger. I might even get used to the aircraft, but how about a semi for the small stuff? BUT NOT GAUDY LIKE KITT'S UNDERCARRIAGE!
Get with the program, and get us some good old fashioned unpredictabiliy in the plot lines, like the old school way, with the needed modern twist? Have KITT hack a few computers on his own, not some IT tech 200 miles away.
In short, you have given us our dessert when we have not yet had our supper.
I think KARR can finally be tougher than KITT. I love the new series and the new KITT but I always loved KARR from the beginning and at least he is back in some form. I just can't wait to hear him talk again.
The only thing this turd has in common with the original is the name \"knight rider\". I'm hardcore into the old one, have a full blown replica, and tried desperately to watch and accept this turd. Just can't do it. Its sucks........hard. I refuse to petition it to stay on, I hope this crashes and burns, and is swept under the rug.
I didn't know if I'd like the new Knight Rider. As you say above, it's not a remake but a continuation. At first I didn't like the Mustang, but now I'm hooked!! Absolutely love the car! I think Attack Mode KITT looks great compared to the original Super Pursuit Mode KITT, but the new KITT doesn't need blue neon KR on his undercarriage. I've read that they're going to re-work the new series, so it's less of the \"terrorist of the week\" and more like the original series.
That IS the actual footage from the TV show, and not from Transformers II. If you watch the new KR series, they've shown pictures of the new KARR. Last nights episode showed a preview at the end where they find KARR, and another part with KITT vs KARR. I think it will be awesome ~ remember KARR was a \"bold new experiment\", and always referred to KITT as an \"inferior production line model\". Give it a chance!

DAREN: The introduction of SPM KITT marked the time that the original Knight Rider \"jumped the shark\", IMHO; it was never quite the same series after that.
WES: I'm not among those who think the new KR should be a clone of TOS; I do, however, wish the producers had given this new incarnation a little more of the \"flavor\" of the original. Michael Knight, to me, was always a sort of modern-day \"Lone Ranger\", breezing into town in his cool talking car to fight the bad guys and seduce the cute chick in time to ride off into the sunset before they rolled the credits.
This new series is too reminiscent of TKR, as maxwellmilian pointed out. There's no longer a \"young loner on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent, the helpless, etc., etc...\" All you have here is a high-tech SWAT team composed of unbelieveably attractive twentysomethings who are continually trying to one-up each other when the writers don't have them working that tired old \"unresolved sexual tension\" angle. And I know, I know, KITT couldn't be another T/A, but did they have to pick an overrated has-been of an automobile with all the aerodynamics of a concrete block?

Exactly the same... some secret police-type agency with some ridiculous car that can change skins and do completely unbelievable things. All they did to make this show was take Viper, and use a mustang instead.. oh and call it Knight Rider.
With that said, I hope they get some new writers and turn it around, I dont want to see it get canceled.

I agree with Wes..... KR is not supposed to be the same as the 1980's version. That would take away from the show. It is supposed to be simular in some ways. It really doesn't matter what type of car is used, personally I don't like mustangs but I have grown to like KITT. Whether a mustang or camaro is used--you would have the camaro haters and the mustang haters commenting. The effects are superb, wish my car could have the same effects. That would be cool. I have signed the petition to bring back KR for another season because I just love this show!!!!! What other show compares to a car that can do soo much??? If you find one let me know because I know there is no other show that has what KITT has or even what he does for that matter! I was a fan of the original show, but I like this one better. Val Kimner voices the car better, Jason is a better M.Knight, and the car kicks ass. I mean every episode has hot chicks, fast cars, cool fight scenes and some pretty good special fx. What more could you ask for if your a guy? Those dudes with modded trans ams from the 80's are going to bitch about it anyway. Let em.
I hope the show stays on the air. NBC pulled the Bionic woman off the air rather quickly as well and I also liked that show.
