It doesn't add up. Given a "choice" other means of birth control would be chosen. No question. But that starts with education.

Re: Right to Choose

And while you're at it, why do right to lifers not provide a viable solution for the newborns? If Andy's stats are right, we'd have 3,700 more babies born every day in the U.S. alone. Where do they go? How do they get educated? Fed? Clothed? Loved?

Re: Right to Choose

I believe the fetus is part of her body and a man or anyone else for that matter doesn't have the right to tell her what to do with it. I am not one of them and I choose to not be associated with them. If a woman wants a man's opinion about their body, they'll surely ask, but who are we to mandate anything they do with their own body.

Re: Right to Choose

Complex opinion, eloquently expressed. And knowing specific numbers doesn't reflect the amount of sympathy one can feel either.

Re: Vlogging to the Airport

Giving the prisoner that they are about to kill an extraordinary meal makes the state feel and look as if they are killing with mercy. It's the same motivation that many people have when giving the homeless their pocket change. They're not really helping, but it makes them feel good. It appears that they are doing for others when in fact, they are doing it to relieve their own feelings of guilt. The prisoner may get a brief moment of satisfaction from the meal, but in the end, it's meaningless. The homeless person may be able to get a cup of coffee, but is still confronted with finding a place to sleep.

Re: Georgia Covers the Death Penalty?

I remember when I lived in Florida and back in the day when "old sparky" (I swear that was the electric chair's nickname) was going to be put into use, the news would mention it (barely), but the public wasn't concerned at all. If you're weren't paying attention, you'd never know the prisoners name nor the crime that got him into the chair.

It's a clever self-preservation device of the state's advocacy and use of the death penalty. If the media would cover the crime, the prisoner and the execution closer, inevitably the public would care more. And I would guess they'd begin to object to such a primitive punishment being meted out by a "civilized" society.

Re: Execution Day: What Would You Do?

Religious contradictions in the Death Penalty.

Re: Homeland Security?

our government spends their time and money trying to frame potential "terrorist" in hopes of making a conviction. if they succeed, they can brag about keeping the country safe. the fact that they can't get a conviction of "terrorist" they framed, make me feel anything but safe.

Re: MobLogic Shut Out

Thanks, Clintus. It was a little difficult for her to interview in jail. She had to smuggle the camera in and have it quickly confiscated. I can't think of any other source letting the people know what it's like to go through the arrest process. Not really sure what would make you happy.

Re: Lindsay Arrested: Yellow Journalism?

And what exactly are you doing to make a difference, Super Lame?
