The Republicans who voted against this should put up a declaration of war vote if they believe so strongly that America should be spending billions to kill people in Iran. They won't though. They'll just let Trump continue to break the law when it comes to warfare, Constitution be damned.

I’ll vote for Gonzalez in the primary, if only to help make the point that Hick should not take his constituents for granted. In the general, of course, I’’ll vote for the Democratic nominee for Senate. I’m not that much of a purist.

I'm in the same boat here. I'm satisfied with Hickenlooper or Gonzales and I'm satisfied with Weiser or Bennet which means I'm gonna vote for Gonzales and Weiser for their offices in the primary cuz I consider them to be more fight-y than Hick and Bennet, but I'll enthusiastically vote for the Dem candidate in the general election for the same reasons.

I know there's been dozens of potential "last straw" moments for Trump since he oozed his way down his golden escalator but I have a small bit of hope that this is an effective one.

As far as I can tell every stupid fucking thing Trump has done has been met with approval or avoidance by Republicans until this one. It's nice to see Republicans actually stand up to the moron.

Will Trump and his cadre of assholes attempt to find a more subversive way to do this? Absolutely! But small progress is progress... I hope.

This sounds like a great money making scheme for lawyers. Candidates can get prosecuted then prepare for court then delay court then if they get convicted they can appeal the conviction then if that appeal fails then they can appeal again and delay that then if that appeal fails they can pay the fine and 2+ years later, after nobody cares anymore, the courts can say "Yep. He lied."

I know our court system is reactionary and slow and moves with purpose to get things correct and I like that a lot, but I wish it could move faster with things like this.

The Trump administration continues to make wild, reckless decisions with no regard for laws and people in the federal government have to treat these decisions as valid until a court says the decision is not valid, but when that takes months it's ridiculous.

"Hey you know that horrible decision that Trump made months ago that you've been acting on even though you were pretty sure the decision wasn't valid? Well we've decided the decision wasn't valid so just go about your work like you did before the decision. Just pretend these past few months didn't happen. Have a great day!" (How I summarize these kinds of decisions from courts)

2016 was a literal decade ago, but the difference between 2016 Steiner and 2021 Steiner is pretty noticeable. I wonder how far down the MAGA slide he's gone down in the past 5 years.

Steiner's web page makes him seem like he'd be a capable state party chair because he has experience and is willing to stick with the basic parts of running a party. I'm having a hard time squaring this choice with the Colorado GOP's choices for Governor. I hope the Colorado GOP becomes more like Steiner and less like Marx but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

When I'm at a firing range and someone yells "cease fire" everybody stops shooting. Since Iran and the US keep firing ( AP News ), there's no cease fire. The illegal and unnecessary war with Iran continues on and there's apparently not a fucking thing anyone in Congress will do about it.

Commuting Peters' sentence was the wrong thing for Polis to do. She's going to prove it every time she opens her mouth.

ANYTHING that happens to Peters that she doesn't like is going to be blamed on The Democrats and the MAGA true-believers like the fucking guy wearing crocs with socks are going to eat it up.

Democrats are not out to get Tina Peters. I don't want anything to do with her. I wish she would just live the rest of her life with a small dog that barks too much while she gardens and actually works towards prison reform. But no. Instead she's going to spend all her effort pointing her inmate-choking fingers at The Democrats for everything bad that ever happens and never stop.

She apparently is prohibited from contacting election officials. This is from a Colorado Sun article posted earlier today...

Mesa County Attorney Todd Starr is in the dark about whether Peters might return to Grand Junction. She still owns a home on a bluff above the city.

If she does come back, Starr said she is already prohibited from having any contact with county election workers, court officials, or with any witnesses who testified against her during her trial.

A bunch of service members wearing uniforms (dress uniforms? I'm guessing dress uniforms) while cheering on a UFC fight outside the White House sounds like something out of a post-apocalyptic story.

I'm trying to imagine my response had this been offered to 21 year old me while serving in the Marines. "I have to pay for the travel AND be in uniform?! Fuck no!"

My favorite thing about Kyle Clark interviewing anyone is that when they say something wacky or untrue things, he treats them in good faith and asks more about the wacky or untrue thing. Seeings how the thing is either wacky or untrue (or both, it could be both), people tend to avoid expanding on the thing.

The wild thing about Bottoms and Marx is that absolutely no one was asking them about their wacky or untrue things! They are the ones that brought up the subjects, but when people ask about them they shut it down. They could both save us all some time by just shutting up in the first place!

Making military supplies in case we need them is smart and good. Making wars to justify the making of military supplies is bad and wrong.

When the corporate desire to always be growing exists in companies that supply things to our military then we're doing it wrong. This is what I hear whenever someone complains about the "military-industrial complex". Unfortunately, I don't think the complaints are unfounded.

ICE continues to act contrary to the law... and contrary to court orders and what can we do? Um.. take them back to court so courts can "demand" that ICE does things but there's no actual way to enforce those court orders so ICE just continues to act contrary to the law and contrary to court orders.

For example, from the Colorado Sun today ...

In a 60-page order, U.S. District Judge R. Brooke Jackson in Denver also found ICE must beef up its documentation of warrantless arrests, turn more documents over to attorneys representing immigrants and pay for their attorneys fees.

Jackson found ICE agents in Colorado are violating his earlier order barring them from arresting people without a warrant without first determining they are a flight risk and living in the country undocumented.

"Don't do that again or we're gonna tell you not to do that again."

I'm not saying these court orders are useless, but I also don't see how they're actually enforceable and it is absolutely frustrating to me.
