Traditional Mexican food is awesome. Some of the "Americanized" versions are actually pretty damn good for that matter.

And no, I'm not talking about Taco Bell. I should add that traditional Mexican food is a broad term considering the wide differences between the different areas of Mexico. Thankfully here in SF we have a pretty good variety of the different types, including the aforementioned yummy Americanized versions. We're talking families of Mexican descent that have lived here and run restaurants for generations going back many decades. They've developed their own unique cuisine using traditional methods and recipes from Mexico.

Not to say there aren't a lot of crap hole-in-the-wall places around selling plates full of greasy rice and beans swimming in cheese and god knows what else. Unfortunately we have a lot of those too.

Happy to see it looks like you got rid of the awful pic of Obama in the column to the right. I have to admit, I get a visceral feeling of disgust even having to look at his mug. And then there is his voice. I used to love hearing him speak. Now, anytime I hear it I cringe and look for the mute button immediately. I'm completely serious here.

I was the same way when it came to GWBush, but I have to admit I'm even more disgusted by Obama because he blatantly lied to so many of us that supported him. Bush never promised us anything.

Like I said, I generally agree with your sentiment. It wasn't just California though. Look at Delaware, Colorado, and the Washington State Senate race. All of them saw a huge influx of outside repug money, yet they held their own and prevailed.

I generally agree with your sentiment, but I have to say I'm proud California bucked that trend. Just look at the huge sums of money spent here by Whitman, Fiorina, and the Prop 23 sponsors (repeal of strict greenhouse gas emission law here in CA). They all went down in flames big time.

The MSM isn't really discussing it, but look at the governors race here. Brown didn't just beat Whitman, he slaughtered her! Close to a thirteen point win.

Money can't always buy everything.

That's a really stupid reason not to vote, but it was a lousy bill. So many people don't realize that Prop. 19 would've actually recriminalized some minor pot possession offenses. Let me give an example: Say you're sitting in a park or at a concert and a cop catches you smoking a joint. With the recently signed decriminalization bill that was just passed last month, you can be given a $100 ticket at most. No criminal charge, not even a misdemeanor. Possession of up to an ounce is a non-criminal offense for that matter. Had Prop. 19 passed, being caught smoking a joint in a park or at a concert (or anywhere in public for that matter) would've become a misdemeanor criminal charge once again. Prop. 19 would've overrode the existing decriminalization and medical marijuana laws. I'm certain that's why we saw such a huge reversal in the polls the last few months. When Arnold signed the decrim bill it sealed the deal.

There are many other examples, including possible felony charges for certain offenses that are now perfectly legal if you have a medical marijuana card. Smoking in the same "space" as children. What the hell did Prop 19 mean by "space" anyways? I certainly wouldn't trust the police and courts to interpret that in the pot smoker's favor. In fact, Prop 19 was opening the door to harrassment and potentially breaking families apart. Maybe that wouldn't happen in San Francisco, but remember, there are a lot of backwards small and mid-size towns in California, with authorities every bit as bad as some redneck town in the South.

As much as I support marijuana legalization, Prop. 19 was an extremely flawed bill and I'm glad to see it go down.

A lot of people don't realize that Prop. 19 would've actually recriminalized some minor marijuana offenses that were just decriminalized last month. Yes, you read that right.

Trust me, California will legalize pot in 2-4 years, and it won't be by way of an awfully written bill that was going to open the door to many potential unintended consequences.

It's been breaking for the past hour that this was not just a Rand Paul supporter, but a paid county coordinator for the Paul campaign. He's already been fired and Paul put out another weak statement less than an hour ago.

Can we start talking about impeachment yet?

The only two positives I see from the repugs getting control of congress: for the final two years, they might block any more of this administration's awful, corporate giveaway bills. Not that they disagree with them, but they'll be damned before they give Obama any credit for it. The other possible benefit is that they neuter his last two years with impeachment proceedings. This would put us in a much stronger position to find a real democratic party contender for the primaries.

I have to admit that one of the significant things President Obama has taught me is that we shouldn't be afraid of the repugs. Kind of a "with friends like these" sentiment come true.

In a way I'm kind of glad to hear this. There is no way these banks have had a chance to even begin to address (cover up) the underlying fraud they've committed.

Let the shit start to hit the fan now, while the general public are starting to find out about the fraud issue(s) involved. Even the mainstream media is starting to take notice. The timing of this could work out in favor of the 50 state attorneys general that are now jointly investigating the fraudulent practices of these financial firms.
