Regardless of "why" Obama won re-election, he WON all the same. No supreme court "handing" him the office, a simple, honest MAJORITY of voters accepted Obama, and REJECTED the RR ticket.

I have lived in Federal Way for over 10 years.
I have had an alarm in my home the whole time.
Every door and every window has a contact.
There are glass breaks in every room, with several motion detectors as well.

I have NEVER had a false alarm.

If an alarm is properly installed, it will NOT activate if a "burglar shakes a door or window", nor should it.

After all, we get winds that would do the same thing.

False alarms are an incredible WASTE OF RESOURCES.

To use the author's logic, if the Officers are not responding to false alarms (or other "high priority calls"), then they are available to PATROL, which is what this citizen would rather see Officers doing, instead of responding to poorly installed, poorly maintained and/or poorly operated alarm systems.

Officers on patrol provide a significant deterrent effect, reducing crime BEFORE it happens!

Our "$30 car tabs" cost us $120 per vehicle THIS year, BEFORE this proposed increase.$60 per vehicle went to Sound Transit.

Dow Constantine wants ANOTHER $20 / year / vehicle for transit?

I have no problem with helping to fund transit, but this is downright robbery!

I will never, in all of my life, forget the experience of watching the scene, as the 80+ year old neighbor's body was removed from a similar setting on Green Lake Way North. It was a dark, wet night. She was crossing "at a crosswalk", but like 320th it was a heavily traveled road, and there were no safety mechanisms of any kind. It was reported to us that her death was likely instant. Her head was, quite literally, split in half.

She was a single woman who lived her entire life with her sister, and she was one of the sweetest women I knew. Her sister never recovered, and as healthy as they both were for their age, it was very sad to witness the rapid decline of the surviving sister.

In response to this letter writer, I must ask; "Have we grown so SELFISH as to place our conveniences, and a couple of your "hard earned dollars" ahead of ANYONE's life?

I have not.

But sadly, it appears some have.

The problem I see with "promoting Federal Way's 'core'" is - where EXACTLY IS our core?

We have the Mall.

We have Celebration park which is a walk for me, but I LIKE to walk.

Even FURTHER away is our new community center.

Of which I am a great fan, but again, this stuff is all spread out.

Now we have proposals to sread even further, to the north (and opposite direction from these other locations) all in the name of "building a core".

It's time we as a community face the fact that there IS NO "core" in Federal Way, and there likely never will be.

We are supposed to believe that Jim Ferrell, a partisan conservative Republican, deserves more support from Democrats than Skip Priest, a moderate, conservation minded Republican who actually BELIEVES in bi-partisanship!

For those who don't know, Steve McNey, a republican leaning campaign manager, is advising BOTH Jim Ferrell AND Tony Moore.

The FWPD is not "keeping an officer there" as suggested. When officers have time between calls, they do sometimes sit in this lot, and perhaps they hand out tickets? I don't know, I have never received one, but then again, I DO come to a complete stop here!

Personally I appreciate it when I see an officer in this area.

Ah yes, the "slickster" Jim Ferrell cheering section comes out in droves whenever someone speaks well of Skip Priest.

And when their fav boy LOSES HIS COOL, they defend him, claiming he "had a right" to lose his cool. After all, he was "only defending himself".

Meanwhile, the rest of us see real value in electing a mature, experienced individual to serve in the role as our first Mayor. After all, we do NOT want to see headlines everytime "Mayor Ferrell loses cool - AGAIN".

Vote Skip Priest, a REAL leader!

Certainly our lawmakers have better things to do with our time, than to waste it on trying to legislate this type of business. I refuse to go to these places, not out of moral outrage, rather I have no doubt the coffee is horrible!
