Awesome walkthrough! I have been eyeballing similar plans for a while, but this one has me really thinking since you added a passthrough monitor.

a few ideas i will probably implement in my design:

1. Move switched to the interior
2. while the splitter and monitor in one device is elegant. i think you could make a seperate splitter fit and get a larger better fitting monitor in the lid... I'm looking at this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B...
3. I'm seriously thinking about redesigning the 3d files to allow a "docking" design. Ive already started sketching up a modular dock for this thing.

in this formfactor i'm pretty sure you could fit a SD Card reader and USB Hub ( i know you cant do both at the same time but the option to plug a 512 card in for a shoot and optionally a EXT HD or use it as a webcam without switching anything around is appealing..

on another note. i'm also considering working the dock into a larger pelican for a integrated Network Switch and Mixer

I fail to understand the premise of your article or what your shocked about. You expected a sound when he "started" it? you mean a sound like when other GAS combustion powered ATV's or like when other ELECTRIC ATV's you've heard start????? There aren't to my knowledge other Electric ATV's. unless you want to talk golf carts. oh, and they dont make a sound when they start or run either. this article makes you sound like a liberal talking about firearms. no frame of reference.

as an industry professional I can honestly say but the hardware that Apple is putting out is not the solution. it's the software and they have firmly committed to only service in the prosumer instead of the professional and because of that will suffer great losses. Most of my video efiting professionals are dumping FCPX for CC
