Truthfully, it all comes down to how you make people feel. Blanket emails make people feel invisible. Personalized messages go a little further to show that the person took some time and interest in you. This is so important on getting your pitch noticed.

Re: Shh! I really like your challenge to those in different roles (those who are in the tech/startup community, those who are angels, and even BI itself). I think action items are the key to getting things kick started so hopefully people will take this article to heart.

Re: Junior people in VC are gate keepers who add friction to the system

Great article, thanks for the insight.

Re: Got an iPhone App Idea? That by reading the hourly or even daily news, we're only getting the micro view, and not the macro picture of what is really happening. I completely agree with you (and Nassim) on this approach. You know all those "Here are my predictions for 2010" articles going around? A bunch of them I scheduled with Hootsuite to tweet out in the last week of December 2010, to see if they really held true. What is more interesting to me than the actual predications are the ensuing results.

Re: Advertising As Supplemental Content

Right, which is why nonintrusive advertising is the challenge, because it is so subjective.

Re: Simplicity & The Superbowl

Just watched the GoDaddy commercial on YouTube. Your approach is very innovational and thoughtful. I'd love to hear more about how you propose giving individuals more control over their advertising. So much to talk about here, I think I'll have to write three more blog posts just to address this.

Yes, I agree with you that a lot of what is happening on the internet deals with architecture. Perhaps that is what I was trying to get at with the how anthropology works online - how relationships are structured and function as a result of being digital. This idea needs to be fleshed out more though to be fully understood and to understand the whole scope of my idea on it.

Your second paragraph re: altered behavoirs based on the searchability and the permanence of the internet is something that I haven't considered. You were the inspiration for this article so very happy to see your feedback. Advertising as invisible, in my opinion, will be a great thing. It is an abstract concept that I hope comes to fruition.

Re: 'Lemonade' Will Motivate Your Lazy Laid Off Ass

I have yet to see the film in it's entirety, but I already know that it's great.
