They are trying to address a problem where the internet connection is not great. Pt .1. in the blog post is not exactly relevant. Before I travel to countries like Spain or USA, then I would check with my network provider on data plans add-on while I roaming. The point I am trying to make is data is becoming cheaper.

Online Maps: The benefits of online maps is far more than offine one. Here Maps do not have the feature to reroute automatically when there is a traffic incident. So it is living in a false economy on saving money on offline maps but spending money on time and fuel while sitting in the car.

I recommended friend of mine who is travelling to Crypus to download Here Maps and use it while he is there. The first thing he searched for is "Ercan Airport" and to his surprise he could not find it. I searched on Here.com and could not find it. Then we searched it on Google Maps and it was there. Then I used the coordinates from Google Maps on Here maps and was able to see the airport on the maps. He was not convinced about Here Maps on whether to use it while he is in Crypus b'cos of it.

The success of maps to be used for car navigation is that it should be up-to-date and it has the ability to automatically reroute faster route when the data is available. It is not relevant when you travel to developing countries as there are fewer alternative routes and traffic is bad anytime during the day.

Impressed with presentation on unboxing of Nokia 1020. The build quality of the Nokia phones are really good. I had a play around Nokia 925 and it is good. The reason I may buy Nokia 1020 is that it has a good camera and an inbuilt satellite navigation.
Now a days, there is no reason to buy a phone because it is a phone.

When I visited Egypt (http://iwaant.com/2010/12/e... and guides talking about worship in pharaonic temples, it was similar to worship in Hindu temples with lamps and lights. The only difference, India preserved the culture for more than 2000 years and we can experience the same thing now that happened centuries back whereas in Egypt they can only talk about.

History is always taught that India was unified by British. But whole of India was ruled by one king before http://en.wikipedia.org/wik.... King Ashoka was the one who propagated Buddhism around the world. In schools in India, very little is taught about King Ashoka.

I think, Indian history can be taught by internet and television and popular TV channels should fund some of the projects of exploring India. And students need to encouraged to explore history of India which dates back to 3000 years and the achievements from that time rather than to start focus on time between 1100 AD to 1947 AD that under foreign rule.

There are lot of learning opportunities available for women today. There are more colleges for women than for men. There are industries dominated by women.

When we talk about high profile of scientist or engineers, then we speak about people who are expectional. It is not about gender. Secondly it lot depends whether women find technology or science interesting. If they find it interesting, it is natural for women to pursue career in science and technology.

I believe that there is no point talking about women should do all the things men do. It is difficult to get women interested in news, current affairs or sports or men to be dedicated on doing chores in the house.

Nokia should promote Meego OS and sell phones with Meego. It is much better OS than Windows. Also it much more appealing.

Meego is open source. It is a question of survival for Nokia in the marketplace. Nokia has to identify themselves as innovator in hardware and software too.

Firefox become popular because of the add-ons. They filled the gap in the market and people adopted it. However Firefox lacks innovation. They copy the best features of other browsers and include in their releases. Unless Firefox makes its goal to be innovator, it is going to loose its share in the market.

I had given feedback to Firefox two years back that they are copying Opera browser and they have to come up with something new to stay in the game. But they continue to do the same what they have been doing .... copying. There is no fire in the fox...Lets see what happens to Firefox browser in next two years ....
