Looks like a great project! We need more housing, especially affordable housing, and putting it just a few blocks from the metro is perfect if we want less sprawl and traffic.

What a silly idea. This will just increase traffic thanks to induced demand. We should be spending money on transit improvements, not tearing down homes to make ever-widening highways like they do in Texas or Los Angeles.

I grew up in Bethesda and live in San Francisco now. The reason SF is so expensive is we have exclusionary single family zoning in most of the city. Jawando's proposal makes us *less like San Francisco*

This sounds like a great idea! Given the amount of money taxpayers have invested in the metro system, there’s no good reason neighborhoods so close to transit should have exclusionary zoning. Legalizing more housing near transit is common sense.

Let's break down this comment shall we?

1) I'm not sure you understand what a felon is, as Hillary was never convicted of a felony.

2) Implying that people are voting for Hillary solely because she's a woman is frankly insulting and the type of misogyny that many people deal with on a daily basis

3) You disagree with the choice of candidate for endorsement, and therefore believe that these people shouldn't be able to vote. It's no wonder this is your first reaction, when Republicans have gutted the VRA and Trump is encouraging "poll watchers" to intimidate voters in minority-heavy neighborhoods.

you should actually read milton freidman's analysis of the great depression. even though he's a noted skeptic of government intervention, his analysis (which is commonly accepted in the academic community) is that the fed didn't do enough in face of the great depression.

have you looked at the economic stagnation in japan or the EU over the last 25 and 5 years, respectively?

many economists agree that this is due to an aging workforce combined with other demographic trends limiting growth.

however, the US's post-recession recovery has been one of the strongest in the developed world, and a main reason for that is our expanding young workforce which is in large part due to immigration.

but then you devolve into an incoherent tirade against "leftist guilt" so i doubt many people are taking your opinion seriously anyways

couldn't agree more.

I literally had to stop watching modern family because as the show went on it became so predictable-a miscommunication (or three) spiraling out of control in the most predictable and ridiculous ways until at the end things magically out (because they're all rich and white), and there's a trite voiceover about how it just brought them together as a family. blech.

Love how this show stays as far away from that trap as possible.

this is kind of a misleading title. Berkeley implies UC Berkeley, not some elementary school. Also banning speech is never the best way to deal with offensive speech. While there are many offensive costumes out there, it is a better policy to educate someone on why it's offensive to wear a native american headdress, rather than ban it.
